Indian GP Could be delayed to December 4

The chiefs from Formula One have been contemplating to have the season finale of the Indian GP end by December 4, in a bid to accommodate the following Bahrain GP on their calendar. Discussions continue to take place between Bahrain officials and Bernie Ecclestone, the FIA concerning the race taking place according to schedule, some sources in the upper echelons revealed that Indian officials were requested to move the race date so that they could accommodate the event at Sakhir.

If the plan is approved by Indian officials and the Bahrain GP is given the go ahead to resume their schedule, than the Bahrain GP could takeover the October 30 slot allotted to the Indian GP. There will be a gap of two weeks till the Abu Dhabi GP begins on Novemer 13, which will be followed by the test for young drivers from November 15 to 17.

The Brazilian GP would take place according to schedule on Novemner 27, while the Indian GP could be moved to the date of December 4. As the FIA contemplates on whether the Bahrain GP can return or not, according to sources, the chiefs of Formula 1, want to sort out the reshuffle in schedule as soon as possible, rather than keep waiting. While it is clear, that the Indian officials have been asked to consider a new date, there has been no decision taken regarding the dates.

The President of FIA, Jean Todt said during the Turkey GP, that they were happy to give more time to Bahrain. They are completely sympathetic to the problems taking place in Bahrain and understand that they won’t be able to keep the Bahrain GP as the championship’s first race. He added that when you are in difficult situations, support is needed, which is their responsibility. They need to offer then support, and it will not hurt anybody to have their final reply by June 3.
