Rolls Royce Witnesses Flat Sales Growth in India

Premium car manufacturer, Rolls Royce witnessed a flat growth in sales in India. according to the company’s Asia-Pacific spokesperson, Hal Serudin, said that their sales over the last six months has remained around the same level that it was in the corresponding period a year ago.

The company however, expanded their marketing operations as they saw long term potential in this market, with the ultra rich category expanding year over year. They will have two more showrooms across India to add to their current showrooms in Delhi and Mumbai. The company will select among the cities of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai for opening their new showroom.

Following the increased demand for premium cars in northern India, they are planning to open either a showroom or a service outlet in Chandigarh as well, a market that is currently served by their showroom in Delhi.

Serudin added that they witnessed spectacular growth in this market last year, with sales of 70 to 80 units. This year they want to focus on business sustainability.

The sales of the Rolls Royce in global markets increased by 64% in last six months, selling 1,592 models. Their sales in the Asia-Pacific market doubled boosted mainly by sales in China. Their third largest market in this region was India following China and Japan.

Cars from this brand are priced between INR 2.5 crore to INR 4.2 crore. According to the latest world wealth report by Capgemini and Merrill Lynch, India saw a rise of 21% in its high networth individuals, which is good news for the company.

The company however faces challenges from many competitors who entered the super luxury car market in India. last year alone, saw brands like Koenigsegg Agera, Bugatti Veyron, Maybach and Aston Martin entering India.

Serudin also said that slow growth in the economy was another concern causing their customers to change their buying decisions. Meanwhile, people are also seeing a lot of potential in opening a Rolls Royce showroom in India. They have received a few prospective candidates who want to open this showroom.
