Nissan presents the Nissan SunDrive event in India

In a bid to provide automobile bloggers from the Indian spectrum a heads-up about the new Nissan Sunny, Nissan Motors India Private Limited (NMIPL) organized the Nissan SunDrive event starting from 12th September to 15th September 2011. This event saw the Nissan officials arranging a two days stay in hotel Radisson Blu in Chennai and thereafter organizing an 86 kms drive from Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry.

At this event, prior to the drive, in the briefing sessions, Nissan India executives were present to answer the various queries that the electronic as also the print media would have for them. Present amongst the officials were Kazuhiro DOI who is the Segment Chief product Specialist for the V platform, Michio Nakajima, Assistant Chief Vehicle Engineer and also Mr Satoshi Matsutomi, the Vice President for Product Planning from NMIPL. Assisting them with the presentation and details was Mr Dinesh Jain from Hover Automotive India Private Limited. Hover Automotive has been appointed by Nissan Motors to handle the sales, service and spare parts for Nissan automobiles.

The entire event saw the likes of many automobile journalists accompanied by their cameramen asking questions about the car and also the future expansion plans by Nissan India. The next day morning saw everyone being headed to their Nissan Sunny cars for the drive. 10 cars were flagged off from the starting point by Mr Satoshi Matsutomi. Accompanying every two Sunnys was a Nissan Micra support car and bringing up the rear was a Nissan X-Trail. After the 86 kms one way trip was made, the entire entourage was provided with refreshments and with a switch of drivers, the return journey commenced. Once back at the hotel, after a lunch break, everyone was transported back to their hotels in Nissan Micra cars and X-Trails. The officials were tightlipped about the launch date of the car as also its pricing. However, safe estimates say that the car should be launched on the 20th of this month while its pricing should hover around the Rs 6 lakh mark for the base variant.
