At present, only the Freelander 2 gets assembled in India at the Pimpri plant of Tata Motors near Pune.

Suri also added that the location for assembling the other models could be either at the Pimpri plant itself or they could do it somewhere else. It would purely depend on the business scenarios.

Making his remarks on the targets that the company had set for themselves in India, Suri said that they were ideally looking at a scenario in which they would have a 20% presence in the Indian luxury car segment. However, no frame has been set for achieving this target.

This particular market segment however is growing at a steady rate in India and is expected to touch 1.5 lakh units by 2020. In the present year, the market is expected to grow by more than 20,000 units.

Suri said that though the company had set very ambitious targets for themselves, they had the confidence of achieving the same based on the quality of the company’s products.
