Latest Chevrolet Tavera will have a 2.0L Sonalika Rhino engine

The Chevrolet Tavera MPV from General Motors is getting a facelift. We are kept updated about the changes that are being given to this latest version of the Tavera by seeing the vehicle at the Talegaon plant of General Motors India. The vehicle is definitely getting a certain degree of facelift in terms of looks and features. However, other than this, the most important change that the vehicle is being made subject to, concerns its engine. The 2.5L diesel engine is getting replaced. In its place, comes the 2.0L Sonalika Rhino Engine. This new engine is compliant with the latest norms of emission and at the same time is powerful enough to produce 100BHp with peak torque of 240Nm. It is also being expected that with all these changes, pricing of the Chevrolet Tavera is likely to increase. Though there has been no confirmation regarding the launch date of the new variant, the vehicle could be showcased at the Auto Expo in 2012.

The decision to go for the new engine was necessary to make the Chevrolet Tavera compliant to BSIV norms. There has not been much of a change made to the exteriors as the vehicle retains its same two-toned color combination. However, it is expected to come with retouched headlights as well as a designed grille to give it an overall fresh look. Images also show that new alloy wheels are going to be added to the vehicle. The interiors are not going to have substantial changes. Minor touches are expected to be given, in lines with the fact that the vehicle is a revamped version.

However, the price rise is going to be effective only from January 2012. However, the Chevrolet Beat has been the only car that has taken the decision of immediately raising its prices by Rs.15,000. The Beat had initially come with an introductory offer price, hence this can justify the decision taken by the auto manufacturer to increase its price.
