Automakers to Showcase Green Vehicles and SUVs at Auto Expo

Within days to go for the 2012 Auto Expo, it has been reported that international automobile manufacturing companies are planning to introduce their fuel efficient cars along with sport utility vehicles. It was also reported that approximately 50 new cars will be showcased to plenty of delegates and half a million visitors as automakers look to move on from 2011’s sluggish sales because of rising fuel prices and costs and high interest rates in third largest economy of Asia. As per the reports, the launch of South Korea’s Ssangyong owned by country’s M&M and product introductions from Renault SA and Toyota Motor Corporation will underline India’s significance to the largest automakers of the world.

Bhargava, Chairman at Maruti Suzuki, the largest automaker of India said that overwhelming feeling is that present sales slowdown is temporary phenomenon and international car manufacturing companies are certainly betting on the country for bouncing back. There will be no slackening of interest here. All are working on fuel efficient, green and hybrid technology cars. The reports mentioned that India’s Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover will skip overlapping North American International Motor Show held in Detroit for focusing on 2012 Auto Expo. On the other hand, Ford Motor Company stated that it will be making the world first announcement at Auto Expo.

Led by the introduction of first-ever electric cars of Mahindra following its 2010 acquisition of Reva and first glimpse of hybrid model of popular Swift hatchback of Maruti, the 2012 Auto Expo will see slew of green and fuel-efficient technology launches. Automakers are also set to muscle in on popular sport utility vehicle segment of the country that fared better as compared to smaller cars in 2010. Luxury car manufacturing firms riding 40 percent annual sales growth in India will be using the 11th Auto expo for increasing their product lines with Mercedes Benz of Daimler AG and Audi of Volkswagen AG introducing new sports car models and sport utility vehicles. The market leader in premium luxury segment, BMW AG will be unveiling its Mini marques in the country for the first time.
