Mercedes Benz Citan MPV appears

Mercedes Benz, as it seems from their early promotion of this model, is quite a bit excited for its launch. We are talking here of the Mercedes Benz new minivan, the Citan MPV, that hasn’t been unveiled as of yet. Furthermore, the unveiling is set for a late 2012 date, clearly indicating Mercedes Benz’s impatience at getting their latest brainchild out of the blocks. The car makers are to release their product at the popular and prominent IAA Commercial Vehicle Show, Hannover during the month of September, 2012.

From the looks of it, it seems that the car makers are going to base the minivan looks on that of the Nissan Evalia (Nissan NV200). We are able to confirm this because the company has gone ahead to recently publish the official sketches of the Citan, the proposed name for the minivan. And though not very detailed, neither coming with any kind of specifications charts, as usual, nothing much can be said about the minivan.

The car makers would like to think of their latest design as that of a stylized urban delivery van. There hasn’t been much talk from the car maker’s end regarding the production of the minivan, but from rumors it can be collaboration between the German auto giant and that of Renault-Nissan. Given the fact that the minivan is modeled as strikingly similar to the Nissan minivan, the collaboration seems highly plausible. As of now it does seem the minivan is much of an offshoot from that of the Nissan Evalia than anything else. This had made its début at the Auto Expo 2012 New Delhi.

The auto giants has already had a number of tie ups and with the minivan, they would be extending the collaboration. But it’s all an assumption at this point, since the Mercedes Benz model also has a striking similarity with the Indian Ashok Leyland’s model the Stile. The minivan can easily be passed off as another one from the Ashok Leyland factory line.

But as of now, everything is under speculation. From the collaboration between car companies for the making of the minivan to the specifications, we are drawing pretty much a blank here.
