VW Polo Blue GT: 2012 Geneva Motor Show

Volkswagen revealed the Polo Blue GT at Geneva Motor Show today. This is the first Volkswagen to feature a cylinder deactivation technology.

Powering the Volkswagen Polo Blue GT is new 1.4-litre TSI producing over 140 hp. Mated to it is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). Its accelerates from dead to 100 kmph in under 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph. This is the top end variant of a new series of petrol engines, dubbed EA211.

This car is described as new generation of low emission and fuel economic cars, with credit going to the Active Cylinder Management and BlueMotion Technolog, the Polo Blue GT delivers 22.23 kmpl fuel efficiency and has a CO2 emission figure of 105 g/km.

With the six-speed manual gearbox, the fuel efficiency figure drops to 21.27 kmpl, while the CO2 emission is slightly more to 108 g/km.

On the exterior, the Polo Blue GT features new 17-inch alloy, new GT badge, dual tailpipes aside from some features borrowed from the Polo GTI, like the rear spoiler, rear bumper with diffuser, front bumper and fog lights. From BlueMotion, the Blue GT borrows features like the side sills and the front rain channels. It features redesigned front grille with black paint job. The R-line bumper and black side mirrors also give it a unique identity. The ride height has been lowered by 15mmm to improve aerodynamic abilities.
