Skoda to launch cut price Ambition variant of the Superb on April 18

Skoda India will be introducing a new cut price variant of its luxury saloon, Superb on 18th April in India. The base trim level known as Ambition will be offered with two different engine choices – the 2.0 litre turbodiesel that generates 140PS of power with 320 newton meters of torque and the turbocharged 1.8 litre petrol generating 160PS of power with 250 newton meters of torque. The Superb Ambition variant’s petrol powerplant is teamed up with 6-speed manual transmission, while the diesel is mated to a highly acclaimed DSG automatic six-speed transmission. The reduction also means that several features will be omitted from Ambition variant; these will perhaps include Bi-xenon cornering lamps, the Electric Sunroof, Hill hold and Hill descent system and touch screen centre console.

The rumored Economy variant is likely to be available with two engine choices as well; these include the 2.0 litre TDi oil burner and the tried and tested 1.8 TSi motor. The TSi is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, whereas the diesel has the famous dual clutch six-speed automatic. This trim level will not feature the Bi-Xenon cornering headlamps, an Electric Sunroof, the Bluetooth function, the touchscreen system on the center console, Hill Hold, ESP, Hill Descent features and some other luxuries, which are standard on higher priced trims of this Superb. The Ambition variant should be easier on the pocket by a whopping 1.5 Lakhs over the present base model that boasts 6 airbags and dual-climate control.
