Audi S4 launched in India at Rs 45,31,000

Audi India has had a successful year until now with the launch of two exquisite products – TT and A4. Owing to which, the German luxury carmaker, finally announced the launch of the Audi S4 – a potent competitor, which merges true vitality and majestic sophistication. Great power, a splendid rank of features and a lofty grade of day after day sensibility: all these traits appear mutually in the fresh Audi S4. Prices start at Rs 45,31,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra), and the fresh model S4 is currently offered at 19 Audi showrooms around the country.

The Audi S4 sedan exemplifies the cultured sporty persona of classic Audis. It is a quick, powerful sportscar that combines day-to-day sensibility. The hexagonal single frame grille, the wedge-shaped xenon headlamps hugged in LED daytime running lights, the LED taillights and the fresh bumper style are some of the more evident nods to the restructured vehicle. The radiator grille include is Platinum Gray and sports delicately fashioned, parallel chrome crossbars and graces the S4 badge. The exterior RVM cover is graced with an aluminum-look touch, the wall projections are painted in the body color and V6 T badges embellish the edges.

Pop up the hood, and a glorious V6 3.0-litre TFSI engine graces the car. The six-cylinder petrol motor exploits 245 kW (333 hp) of power and 440 Nm of torque. In terms of fuel economy, the engine delivers 10.34 kmpl as tested by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The S4 is pretty fast too, all that torque sends the car breathtaking from dead to 100kmph in 5.0 seconds and hits an electronically limited top end limit of 250 kmph (155.34 mph).

Mated to the powerful petrol motor is a seven-speed S tronic gearbox that comes standard. All the horsepower is transmitted to the iconic Quattro drivetrain featuring self-locking center differential and torque vectoring. The car is underpinned by sport suspensions that lower the ride height by 20 millimeters (0.79 in). To bring all the power to halt, the S4 features some smart braking with high-performance brake system. To add to the sporty persona, the S4 sports 18 inch alloys.

In terms of interior, the new Audi S4 features leather covered multifunction sports steering wheel boasting the S4 badge with redesigned and flat-bottomed frame, presented as a sports choice. The inserts receive skin of Matt Brushed Aluminum and sporty fresh black is largely spread over the interior. The lighting package, the xenon plus headlights with LED taillights and the driver infotainment packing with color display add to the specific standard equipment of the S models.

“We have been receiving requests for the new Audi S4 from car enthusiasts all over the country eversince it was first seen at the Audi Driving Experience where Indian motorsport ace and Audi S4 owner, Karun Chandhok drove it on the tracks of the Buddh International Circuit. We decided to utilize the power of our huge fan base to gauge customer sentiments for this. We started the ‘Vote for S4’ campaign on various social media platforms and the outcome was overwhelming as thousands of fans participated on a daily basis and unanimously voted to bring the S4 to India”, added Mr. Perschke.

The German luxury car manufacturer developed by 37 per cent during Jan to May of current calendar, selling 3,281 units in comparison to 2,394 units sold during the same time in 2011. Audi India registered a sales figure of 450 vehicles in May 2012 – a growth of 10 per cent in comparison to the same time last year (May 2011: 408 cars).

Audi India has plans to expand its dealership outlet to 25 towards the end of 2012 from its current 19 outlets. Audi recently established new dealerships in Coimbatore, Delhi West Nagpur and its second in Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal. In 2011, the brand with four rings inaugurated new dealerships in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Lucknow, Navi Mumbai and Mumbai South among others.
