MSI’s Total Sales Declined 7.89% During Feb 2013

As per latest reports, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has registered a drop of around 7.89% in its overall sales figures, which remained at 1,09,567 vehicle units during the last month (Feb 2013).

The nation’s biggest car manufacturer had sold around 1,18,949 vehicle units during the same period of 2012, the report stated.

In the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki India sold around 97,955 vehicle units during the last month as against 1,07,653 vehicle units sold during the corresponding period of last year.

This difference in sales facts showed a decline of 9.01%, the report also said.

But, Maruti Suzuki India’s export figures remained positive during the last month and surged 2.80% to 11,612 vehicle units during February 2012 as compared to 11,296 vehicle units during the corresponding period of last year, the company stated.

The overall passenger car sales in the Indian market remained down by 10.89% to 83,865 vehicle units as against 94,118 vehicle units during the similar month of last year.

The company saw a decline of 15.87% in the sales of its mini-segment vehicles, comprising A-Star, WagonR, M800 as well as Alto to 41,311 vehicle units during the period under review as against 49,104 vehicle units during February last year.

Under the compact section (which consists of Swift, Estilo, in addition to Ritz cars), Maruti Suzuki India posted a decline of around 13.90% in sale figures to 24,021 vehicle units as compared to 27,899 vehicle units sold during the corresponding period of the pat year.

The sale numbers of the company’s Dzire model remained up by around 21.56% to 18,316 vehicle units during the month of February as compared to 15,068 vehicle units during February 2012, the report also stated.

Maruti Suzuki India’s mid-sized sedan SX4 sale facts came down by about 89.42% to just 215 vehicle units in February 2013 as compared to 2,033 vehicle units during February last year, the company said.

Luxury sedan Kizashi witnessed two buyers during the month as against sale of 14 units in the year-ago period, down 85.71 per cent.

Maruti Suzuki India also sold 5,957 vehicle units of its well known as well as renowned utility vehicles, which consists of Grand Vitara, Ertiga and Gypsy as against to 230 vehicle units during the year-back phase, recording an increase of almost 26 fold.

On the other hand, the sale figures of Omni and Eeco, dropped by almost 38.87% to 8,133 vehicle units from 13,305 vehicle units during February last year (2012).

The company is making attempts to cover up this loss in the coming months.
