Bajaj RE60 Receives Clearance from Government, Launch Soon

“Bajaj RE60”, seen testing in Aurangabad last week, now it happened to have received green signal from the Government of India, and will soon enter production bay, confirms Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto. Though some of the details are still on the shaky grounds but Mr. Bajaj thinks all will be fine “very soon”.

After the long array of discussion and test drives, Government of India had finally approved new segment with Bajaj RE60 and that is “Quadricycle”, which was in the heat of their meetings’ agendas and such. For now, the official machinery of India had not laid down their own directed guidelines and regulations but has adopted most of them from ‘European spec. As learnt, these quadricycles will bear “Q” tags on their forehead, just like trucks and other transport metal have “T”, to differentiate themselves from other categories, and yet, will not ply on highways, but can only do with the things on municipal roads itself. This had created a bit disappointment in the joyous environment of Pune based carmaker, which hadn’t reached the neck of top brass for now, Rajiv Bajaj is still hoping Government to work something out on this too; and as said, when we have autorickshaws on those open stretches then why not this one, while it is a bit safer than those three-wheeled structures.

The green flag to RE60 is just a half won battle where the second half is still going on, and when it will end is still unknown, maybe after launch or later than that, no guesses.

However, RE60 was first debuted at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo carrying 200cc liquid cooled, four stroke, DTS-i engine, enough for producing 20bhp and be able to carry payload of 500kgs, derived from the 3+1 substitutions, and even a boot space to store tit bits for travelling last mile, the same is expected to get into the manufacturing facility.
