Honda Motors reports a profit of 248% in June 2013

The commercial world is very unpredictable. Just a few days back, it was revealed that leading Indian automaker, Mahindra and Mahindra, has recorded a drop of 8% in its sales in the month of June 2013 as compared to the same month last year. Mahindra has seen a fall in all its leading segments. When on one hand M&M is dealing with its losses, we have HCIL (Honda Cars India Limited) which is celebrating its fabulous success. Honda has reported a hike of 248% in its sales in the month of June 2013.

Looking at the records it is evident that not just June but the previous 3 months (April – June) have been prosperous for HCIL with total a sale of 20.067 units. On comparing the sales obtained in these 3 months to the last year April-June period, it is seen that HCIL has secured an increase of 45% in its sales this year. The stats revealed for the month of June alone shows that this month have been the most fruitful for Honda with an increase of 248% in its sales.

Last year, in June, Honda had sold a total of 2667 units. In June 2013, the sales increased to 9,297 units. This gives it a hike of 248% this year. The 2nd best seller for Honda, Brio, sold a total of 2,375 units this year in June. The Honda City recorded sales of 1,830 units while the CV-R sold a total of 100 units. Accord sold a total of 27 units this year in June.

The star seller for Honda this season has been the sedan Amaze. This car is a major contributor in achieving a hike of 248%. This June, Honda Amaze recorded total sales of 4,965 units which is almost 50% of the total sales. Honda Amaze has sold a total of 18,000 units in India after its launch.

Vice President of Marketing and Sales at HCIL, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, expressing his joy for amazing success of Amaze has said that, “We are extremely delighted with the consumer response to Amaze which has surpassed all expectations and is further gaining momentum. We already have more than 18,000 happy Amaze customers and we hope to add many more going forward.”

Honda has already made plans to monopolize the Indian market further. They will be launching the next gen City and Jazz. They will also be launching an MUV on the lines of Brio as well as an SUV. These are Honda’s plan for the coming 2 years. Honda is planning to invest more in the Indian market.
