Mahindra & Mahindra sales declines by 21% during July this year

Mahindra & Mahindra, the country’s top sport utility vehicle maker, has registered a declining sales figure by 21 per cent during the last month (July 2013).

During July is year, the homegrown automobile giant made delivery of around 37,096 vehicle units as compared to 47,059 vehicle units during the corresponding period of 2012.

The company’s Passenger Vehicles section (that consists of Utility Vehicles and Verito) posted sales of around 15,530 vehicle units during July this year as compared to 22,011 vehicle units sold during the same period of last year (July 2012).

Mahindra domestic sale facts remained at 34,490 vehicle units in the last month, as compared to 42,799 vehicle units in the same period of 2012.

The four wheeler commercial sector that consists of passenger as well as load vehicles made delivery of 13,740 vehicle units, whereas the three wheeler division posted sales of 4,490 vehicle units during July 2013. Exports for the last month stayed at 2,606 vehicle units.

While talking on the 30 day recital, Mr. Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive section, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. stated, “Over the past few months time, the automobile business has been experiencing one of its most awful periods of the last decade with proposed closures being taken by firms in order to mend demand-supply disparity. The auto business is waiting for an urgent incentive from the administration. With rates of interest remaining unaltered and the Indian currency dipping to new lows, lowering of excise duty is the requirement of the hour that will speed up demand for automobile products, resulting in to the festive period”.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s export figures came down by 38.82% to 2,606 vehicle units in the month of July 2013 as against 4,260 vehicle units during July, 2012.

The company’s overall sale facts of passenger cars, comprising Xylo, Verito, Scorpio, Bolero and XUV500, remained at 15,530 vehicle units as compared to 22,011 vehicle units during July last year, down 29.44%.
