Ford Mustang is going to complete 50 years by 17th April 2014, hence to make it a remarkable one, Ford is learnt to be developing a right-hand drive model of same, says a report.

Hopefully, the right-hand driven Mustang will be launched in the markets like UK and Australia. Unveiling of it will be concluded exactly on the day of its 50th Anniversary, which is said to be scheduled at a paddock of 2014 New York Motor Show.

Adding more to the new market list, report says, Ford is also considering the launch of Mustang in Indian context as a ‘halo’ product.

However, the repertoire of Ford in India is consisted of layman’s cars, the launch of Mustang here will add upmarket feel to the brand, which will also show us its Detroit based car-making heritage.

Ford Mustang
Ford powers the current generation Mustangs with three engine options, a 3.7-litre V6, a 5.0-litre for Mustang GT, and the beasty 5.8-litre supercharged V8 for Shelby GT500. Drop-top variant of Mustang is also sold by Ford in some of the markets, where it will be interesting to see which of the model plate will make debut on Indian shores.

Talking about the number of cars aimed for selling here, Ford is busy working on chalking the actual target group. But once it will be evaluated, then Mustang will cost no lesser than Rs. 40 lakh (depending upon the current import duty structure on imported cars) at a nearby Ford showroom, which may varies as per the model selected.

And hence, year the report had specified for launch is ‘2015’, not anytime before than that.
