Nissan Micra Active in Diesel Variant Spied for First Time

Nissan Micra hasn’t done anything remarkable with its badge in the market, except the recent TVC which broadcasts actor Anil Kapoor in the lead.

To offset the outcome, engineers at Nissan recently launched the ‘Micra Active’ with more chrome strips and else, whereas the old Micra gets ripped off from luxuries and other shining bling and was then tagged as ‘Micra Active’ for the market. Hopefully, the Active version of Nissan’s premium hatchback was made available in petrol only; and the soaring demands diesel by Indian customers were left craving by.

Considering such factors into account, the top brass of Nissan has agreed of taking decisions over the launch of diesel variant of Micra Active anytime soon.

Looking at the image it is easily identifiable that “Pure Drive DCi” placed on the bootlid of the Micra Active claims our aforementioned title with the model plate. Rather than making any coarse differentiation in the technicalities, Nissan will deploy the ongoing Renault K9K diesel engine, which maybe detuned for the money value to match the mark.

Other details on the site claims a XV version of same was following the XL variant i.e. the one which is caught on camera. Hence, to our speculations, it can be noted, is Nissan on the run to unveil a full range of diesel Micra Active at the Delhi Auto expo 2014?

Well, let’s leave the detailing with the carmaker itself. The starting variant of Micra Active i.e. XE starts at Rs 3,50,096 ex-showroom Delhi.

Just to twist the story around: is the diesel Micra Active is fleshed against the Swift diesel? And if it is said so, then what answer the Maruti has in its stable to counter back to the world resounding Japanese technology. Is Delhi Auto Expo 2014 going to solve this mystery around? Chevrolet Teases Beat Facelift for Delhi Auto Expo 2014

Days back we reported about the Chevrolet Beat facelift doing rounds on the highways of India, with the camouflages on. Now the official bay of US based carmaker has teased the same with the saying “Style is coming to take the country by storm”.

Hopefully, it is the Beat which the carmaker is going to display as one of the major attractions at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Going by the spy-shots we are informed that only cosmetic changes are reported, and not the technical ones, which can be named as front bumper, grille and roof spoiler.

The bowtie logoed carmaker produces Beat at the Talegaon facility in Maharashtra with most of the localized components. Hence, it will be rightful to say Chevrolet had sold the car in huge numbers with the tag of most efficient diesel unit. A 1.0L 3-cylinder diesel engine does its job blissfully, while on the other side a 1.2L petrol performs its duty, even for a LPG variant.

Maruti Celerio EZ drive transmission could be automatic

The Maruti Celerio’s EZ Drive automatic gearbox can be explained as a simple manual transmission that is robotized.  With the help of the actuators and dedicated ECU, EZ Drive gearbox acts like an automatic transmission. It features a simple clutch and a regular manual gearbox. The only difference in this new technology is that as compared to the usual automatic transmissions, it does not have a power sapping torque converter. As a result of this, the fuel efficiency of the car is not affected and the car gives the same efficiency as that of a manual gearbox.

When it was tested, the official figures for the car turned out to be 23.1kmpl, which was the same as the manual gearbox version. The smart software that makes the gears shift and maintains low engine revs is what acts as a benefit in this case. If one sits in the car, it seems to be a normal automatic car with drive, neutral and reverse.

Maruti Celerio EZ drive

The EZ Drive automatic tech offers 5-speeds that work in manual as well as automatic. A “creep” mode has also been added, which helps the gearbox function at low speeds without giving stress to the clutch.

The core benefit of Automated Manual Transmission is its cost effectiveness. Since Maruti has already introduced the technology in the Celerio now, it would be only logical for the company to introduce the same in its other saloons and hatchbacks in the market. The reason why this technology is not used in many of the other countries is that it is a little jerkier than the regular automatics.
