Stud Or Dud? Facelifted Mercedes Benz M-Class Caught In The Open

Mercedes Benz is currently working on the redesigned version of M-Class and now a prototype has been spied testing with a host of blacked out features covering some inevitable design enhancements. Expected to be revealed next year as a 2016 model, the all-new M-Class will be quite overdue considering the current car has been around since 2011. From a visual standpoint, the 2016 M-Class will be clearly distinguishable from the current model, thanks to a modified rear bumper, rear diffuser, exhaust and front bumper and redesigned headlamps.

One addition feature, which we know will make an appearance in the Mercedes Benz M-Class, will be the German brand’s latest dashboard design with latest variation of COMAND system. It is also expected to have revised trim and an upgraded infotainment system. Powering the M-Class will be an all-new twin turbocharged V6 3.0 liter engine that’s rated at 245 kW (333PS) with 354 pound feet (480 Nm) of torque. Elsewhere in the lineup, the ML350 Bluetec diesel will be propelled by a small 4-cylinder engine and mated to the company’s new 9-speed automatic transmission. The box is also likely to feature on the 2016 Mercedes Benz M-Class. As for the performance oriented models, the ML550 and ML 63 AMG, no engine changes are expected.

There have also been rumors about the new hybrid version, but nothing is official as of yet. When the new M-Class hits the roads, it will also be joined by the long-awaited Mercedes Benz MLC pinned to rival the BMW X6.
