Audi A3 Cabriolet India Launch By December

Convertible cars in India always galore a second look and numerous head-turns, various thumbs-up, and obviously admiration from the fairer sex zeroing down to know the model and its price. Taking those notations into considerations, Audi has confirmed to a source of launching the new entry-level sedan “A3” convertible trim in India by December.

Apparently, it will be imported as a completely built-up unit (CBU) so the prices are bind to range between Rs 45 and 50 lakh.

However, there aren’t plans of the automaker to manufacture that same model in the country, so prices are going to stiffly stand at that juncture.

As informed, the A3 convertible is built on high-strength steel chassis for keeping the weight low. The roof too is made out of cloth instead of metal.

The top opens and closes upto the speed of 50km/h and takes 18 seconds to do so.

The A3 convertible is chopped of rear doors but is a fully-fledged four-seater.

Inside the cabin there wouldn’t be many differences as against the A3 sedan version. Bang and Olufsen music system and Audi MMI infotainment with pop-up screen will be on-board. Wind deflectors and neck warmers for the front passengers are sure-footedly on the list.

Under the hoods, at present, there is only plan of bringing in 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 180PS of max power and 350Nm of peak torque. The 2.0-litre diesel engine is still a strong possibility to enter the market with cabriolet but no confirmation arrived yet.

Safety features like ABS, airbags, ESP and traction control will be on-board. Hence, it must be those warm responses that the German automaker may have garnered at Delhi Auto Expo 2014 over displaying the A3 convertible.
