HPCL Opens Petrol Pump On World’s Highest Motorable Road

India’s fortifying fortune – the topography – had lent it to create a world’s highest motorable road. And to add a bit of more gratitude the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) opened a petrol pump there.

Named as Leh-Khardung-La and situated at 15,300 feet sea level, the kerb side pump (KSP) fuel dispensing facility here could be the world’s highest, claimed the statement of HPCL.

The district of South Pullu, where this KSP is located, is one of the remotest areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The inauguration was done by Commanding Officer, Indian Army and Border Roads in the freezing temperature of below 15 degree Celsius.

Not to be surprised HPCL’s Chandigarh Direct Sales Regional Office is also designated to looks after the Army and Border Roads where it was also designated to install 125 KSPs in the challenging terrains.

Out of which 60 KSPs are already installed and the work is in progress at the balance stations.
