Lamborghini Urus SUV Now Officially Confirmed

The fever of making a SUV hadn’t spared even the Lamborghini. Quite long in the brouhaha of industry, the Italian carmaker now finally decided to make that SUV a reality. Lamborghini, which has unveiled the Urus concept back in 2012 at Beijing Auto Show, will take cues from the said in order to keep the trait in shape as per the feedbacks garnered on the same.

However, it may sound insane for a carmaker like Lamborghini to venture into the business of SUV, but since the scope of growing here is more, it couldn’t hold back the decision. All preparation for the manufacturing had begun; with some help from the Italian government received, it has said to build a new production line, expand the R&D facility and warehousing as a part of the product development.

On the list, Urus is the third model for production at Lamborghini’s manufacturing facility in Sant’Agata Bolognese. With high expectations riding on it the maker aims to sell 3000 units of it a year, which is more than double the sales of current performance sheet.

This new Lamborghini Urus is reported to hit the sales floor of the international market by 2018.

Lamborghini named the SUV Urus after an ancestor of the cow, which somehow relates it to the logo of raging bull. The title of fastest and lightest SUV in the world is at its feet, claimed a source. After all, the extensive use of carbon fiber and dynamics taken over from the sports car experience will lead it to shed the weight and surge ahead with ease due it its edge-cutting aerodynamics. The Urus concept powered by an output of 600PS, where most of the source believed the same shall carry over. And possibly, wing mirrors on outside will get replaced by the cameras and TV screens. The bit saved for last, it will also turn out as the most eco-friendly SUV due to hybrid drivetrain which will produce lowest CO2 as compared to other SUVs in the world.

Hence, as said the competition is already in full-fledge for a luxury SUV with many other also in the development. It shall not turn surprising for the admirers to see it standing against the Bentley Bentayga, Rolls Royce SUV/crossover, Maserati Levante, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and Audi RSQ7.

There is a fair amount of possibility that it could share the engine with Audi’s performance SUV SQR7 V10 machine. After all, both the brands are owned by same parent company. And some components are also aimed to get build at Volkswagen on the same line of Porsche Cayenne ‘to save the cost’.
