2016 Hyundai I30 N Hatchback – Spy Shots

A performance-oriented version of Hyundai i30 was spotted wandering around on public roads near Nurburgring. And if rumors are to be believed, the go-fast version will be the first production vehicle from Hyundai’s N division featuring

a 4-cylinder, direct-injected, turbocharged 1.6 liter engine, which has been redesigned for producing 180kW of power.

Currently, this engine is featured on redesigned i30 range, where it churns out 137kW of power with 265 newton meters of torque. The engine is paired with 6-speed manual transmission. The hatchback prototype i30 comes standard with pre-facelift styling elements, rear and front fascias and tail and headlamps. Lower front spoiler and lashings of silver tape partially obscure front clip that’s customized for including side air intakes where foglamps normally reside!

Behind the silver and grey alloys are red calipers and larger discs, while inside you will find gauges perched on dashboard centre. At the back, the exhaust system doesn’t have any hallmarks, and has a single unadorned tailpipe. The N-performance sub-brand was launched by the South Korean automaker in 2013, as its take on other performance oriented divisions of automakers, including Polestar, Nismo, Lexus F, RenaultSport, AMG and M.
According to the company, N is named in honor of Namyang Research And Development Centre situated in South Korea that’s involved with Hyundai’s rallying and motorsport endeavors.
