Mahindra XUV100 to come with 1.2-liter Petrol Engine

The Executive Director of Mahindra and Mahindra, Mr. Pawan Goenka has announced that the Mahindra XUV100 would be getting a 1.2-litre petrol engine at an event to launch the TUV300 in Pune. The XUV100 is likely to be the first offering from the Mumbai based carmaker, which will be fitted with a home grown engine.

The engine has been developed jointly by SsangYong and Mahindra and is likely to be a three pot mill. Considering the rivals that it has in the market, the engine output would be about 75bhp and will have 110Nm of torque. In terms of transmission, the car would have the option of a five-speed AMT as well as a five-speed manual.

The diesel variant though will have the mHawk 80 engine from the TUV300, which would have a peak power of 84bhp and a peak torque of 230Nm in the manual and 81bhp and 230Nm of torque in the AMT.

The XUV100 has been seen and keenly observed through much of its testing as well as the various development stages and it is believed that it will be a hatchback based crossover. It is also likely to be Mahindra’s entry in the extremely competitive as well as volume heavy B+ segment of cars.

Not only this, at the launch, Pawan Goenka also gave confirmation to reports that Mahindra was working towards bringing petrol engines to whole fleet of Mahindra cars over the coming few years.
