6th TopGear Magazine India Awards Concluded: Porsche Cayman S Awarded ‘Car of the Year’







Every automakers always dream of winning an award, which can also be uttered as Stig in BBC’s slang, for the cars they make. And honestly speaking, a lot of efforts goes into making a car, taken from thought process, designing, actual realization, the concept development, display at auto expos, and then the production. Lest of the talks, the BBC Top Gear India has concluded the 6th edition of awards last night at Hotel Sofitel (BKC) in Mumbai to felicitate the carmaker’s efforts that they had did in the year 2013 for India. In fact, the event also marked the 100th issue of the magazine, so calling the celebration was altogether a grand party. Page 3 celebs like Tussar Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Purab Kohli, Rajkumar Rao, Tamannah, Aditi Rao Hydari amongst other party honchos were present at the event. Cyrus Sahukar was the host for evening, and he dignified the hosting responsibilities impeccably.

Coming to automobiles, the ‘Car of the Year’ was swept by “Porsche Cayman S”, which seems to be a budget sportscar that can also be taken to office daily. Flat-six engine under its hoods is the ultimate power machine. As we know the phrase, those had driven Porsche, will only drive the Porsche in his life. Nothing is going to suits him the best.

The ‘Bike of the Year’ undoubtedly went to the “KTM Duke 390”. It is powered by a 375cc liquid cooled engine, producing 43 horsepower. The short gearing compiled with the end number of horses makes it an ultimate machine to be bought in the vicinity of Rs. 2 lakh.

‘Scooter of the Year’ bagged by TVS Jupiter.

‘SUV of the Year’ was gained by Mercedes-Benz GL 350 CDI.
