New 2017 Audi Q5 Spy Shots Reveals a Lot About the Car
The upcoming 2017 Audi Q5 has been spotted going through rigorous testing in Spain. Although heavily camouflaged, the images reveal quite a lot about the car. The new Q5 in these images looks smarter and sharper compared to its previous version where it was more curvy and bulgy at places. The front fascia of the car looks new and more similar to the one that Q7 has. Other changes in the front of the car include larger air intakes and hexagonal frontal grille. The rear end of the car gets newly designed taillights and a new bumper. Sides of the car remains more or less unchanged. The Q5 is expected to be lighter by almost 100kgs since it would use Audi new and famed MLB platform. Swraj Paul likely to set up sports car hub in Bengal
British industrialist and lawmaker Lord Swaraj Paul may set up a sports car hub in West Bengal. The Caparo Group, which is led by Paul, already has 18 acres of land in the state and it may use that land to set up the concerned manufacturing facility. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is currently on an official visit to the UK where she met Paul and discussed about the project. Paul said that the company is currently in the process of designing low end sports cars for markets in Asia. No investment amount was spelled out by Swaraj Paul, but his company does have certain interest in the car manufacturing and marketing. Chevrolet Trailblazer and Chevrolet Spin Unveiled in India
Chevrolet has unveiled its upcoming Tralblazer SUV and Spin MPV in India. The Trailblazer will be launched somewhere around October later this year, while the Spin MPV will be launched sometime early next year. Once launched, the Chevrolet Trailblazer will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Endeavour. The Trailblazer is based on Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs.25 lakh. The Trailblazer, first showcased in India three years back in 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, is expected to be powered by 2.8-liter diesel engine capable of churning out 200bhp of peak power and 500Nm of peak torque. Volkswagen Beats Toyota and General Motors in the First Half of 2015
First half of the current year goes to German automaker Volkswagen. The company has 5.04 million vehicles worldwide, beating its closest rivals Toyota and General Motors. While Toyota registered worldwide sales of 5.02 million vehicles in the first half of this year, the figure was 4.86 million for General Motors for the same period. While these sales figures may seem staggering, all the three companies have actually experienced a slump in these figures compared to last year. The slump figure for Volkswagen is 0.5 percent, while it is 1.5 and 1.2 percent for Toyota and General Motors. What has worked for Volkswagen is the increased demand for cars in Europe. CCI Penalizes Hyundai India for Anti-Competitive Practices
Accusing the automaker of restricting the distribution and sale of its spares in open market, Competition Commission of India has imposed a fine of Rs.420.26 crores on Hyundai Motors India Ltd. 14 other automakers, including the likes of Honda Siel, BMW, Volkswagen, Ford, General Motors, Skoda, Tata etc. were fined on this same charge with an amount totaling Rs.2544.65 crores. Two other automakers, Reva and Premier, have been let off with warning for indulging in “any competitive practices”. But both these companies will have to follow all the directions that were issued to 15 other companies that were fined.
