The limited edition Datsun GO NXT has been launched in India today. Based on the Datsun GO T, the GO NXT will come with extended accessories and will be for sale from this month till December this year. The price for this limited edition Datsun has been kept at Rs.4.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). What makes the Datsun GO NXT a limited edition car is the fact that only 1000 units of this will be produced eventually and will be put up for sale across 196 Datsun outlets in India. The aim is to fight pollution by providing incentives to people. If Nitin Gadkari led Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has its way then people would soon be able to earn up to Rs.1.5 lakh if they dump their old vehicles. The ministry is currently preparing a policy note in this regard and would soon send it to the union cabinet for approval. In order to fine tune its approach, the ministry has appointed consultancy firm McKinsey to outline the board contours of the policy. The MoRTH will soon approach the Ministry of Finance for allocation of sum under this scheme. Under the scheme, old vehicles in working condition would be refitted with lithium-ion batteries and resold in the market and scrap materials would be sold under industrial scrap and reused in various industries. July Sees a 17.47 Percent Growth in Domestic Car Sales in India
July 2015 was a good month for the automobile industry in India. The industry witnessed a 17.47 percent growth in sale of cars in the Indian market, which makes it the second highest growth figure in the last three months. The month of April had witnessed the highest growth figures of 18.14 percent till now in this fiscal. Coming to hard numbers, 1.62 lakh cars were sold in India in July 2015 compared to 1.38 lakh cars sold during the same period last year. The growth of July marks high growth for the Indian automobile industry for nine months in a row. Ford Figo Aspire Launched in India Starting at Rs.4.89 Lakh
As we had reported earlier, Ford has launched its Figo Aspire sedan in India at a starting price of Rs.4.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car will be made available in both petrol and diesel versions totaling in four different trim levels – Trend, Ambiente, Titanium and Titanium Plus. As far as engines are concerned, the petrol Aspire will come powered by a 1.2-liter 67bhp engine, while the diesel variant will be powered by a 99bhp 1.5-liter TDCi turbocharged engine.
