BMW X4 Launched In Australia: Priced At AUD69,900

BMW has announced the specification details and pricing for the 5th model in its bourgeoning SUV family – the all-new X4. Expected to hit showrooms this July, the X4 will be offered in four different trim levels in Australia and priced from $69,990 plus on-road costs, positioning it in between its X3 and X5 siblings. The coupe-like X4 looks like a smaller version of X6 but borrowing heavily from the X3 platform. In terms of pricing, the crossover carries roughly a $10,000 premium over the X3.

The base X4 xDrive20i is available for the price of $69,990 and is propelled by a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter petrol turbocharged engine that’s rated at 135kW of power with 270 newton meters of torque. Fuel use is rated at 7.2L/100km and 100km/h from rest is achieved in a claimed 8.1 seconds. The xDrive20d is the 2nd tier offering, priced from $73,400 plus on-road costs, and fitted with a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter diesel turbocharged engine returning 140kW of power with 400 newton meters of torque. Fuel use is rated at 5.2L/100km, while the 0-100km/h time is dispatched in a claimed 8.0 seconds.

The $83,900 xDrive30d assumes the penultimate rung. It is motivated by a 6-cylinder 3.0 liter turbodiesel engine churning out 190kW of power with 560 newton meters of torque. Fuel use is rated at 5.9L/100km, while the 0-100km/h performance time is claimed at 5.8 seconds. The top-of-the-line xDrive35i completes the lineup at $87,900 and gets a 6-cylinder 3.0 liter turbocharged petrol powerplant with 225kW of power and 400 newton meters of torque. Zero to 100km/h is achieved in a spritely 5.5 seconds, while fuel use is rated at 8.3L/100km.

All X4 trims feature a four-wheel drive system, which drives four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, complete with steering column mounted shift paddles. The top-tier xDrive35i and xDrive30d feature a sports transmission. In Australia, all trim levels will be available with variable sports steering and performance control, enabling different settings for comfort-oriented or performance driving.

The xDrive30d adds a 360-degree camera, dynamic damper control, 9-speaker stereo, dual exhaust pipes and anti-dazzle rear view mirrors.

The flagship xDrive35i receives an M Sport package bringing dynamic damper control with sport suspension settings, 20-inch wheels, anthracite roof liner, a Harman Kardon 16-speaker surround sound audio system and M aerodynamics package. Across all model the entertainment interface takes form in 20GB hard drive for audio files and an 8.8-inch screen, operated through an iDrive rotary controller, and comes complete with Bluetooth with audio streaming.
