Hyundai is the second largest passenger car manufacturers in India. Also this company is the largest car exporter of India. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of South Korea. Hyundai represent one of the toughest brands in India. This company has to face some difficult times in the Indian market before it tasted success. This company now boasts about its state of the art manufacturing plant which has a capability to manufacture 600,000 vehicles per annum, a dealership of 315 strong dealers and 640 strong service points across India. Yes, this company is definitely a strong and dedicated passenger car manufacturer but then it my duty to make it very clear, that which car make it to the cut and which not.
Hyundai Santro Xing
The first runaway success of Hyundai Automobiles came with the launch of Hyundai Santro in 1998. Ever since then, this car has been a household name in Indian automobile market. Even now this car seems to be one of the bestsellers in its category. Though this car has been added with a Xing in its name but it still delivers that trust to its customers. This car offers a good cabin space and the price is the key factor in its upwards sales chart figure. This car sports a 1.1 litre petrol engine under its hood. Now since the i10 has reached the market, popularity for Hyundai Santro Xing seems to be fading but still this car enjoys a large fan base and is still the weak-link of many hearts in India.

Hyundai has been famous for its consumer friendly cars but not for the good looks of any of them. Then in the year 2007 Hyundai launched its new offering Hyundai i10 in India. This car has everything one can ask for under its category. Looks, performance and space, you name it this car has it. Undoubtedly this car became one of the best cars in its segment and the sales figures of this car were simply phenomenal. Now it’s been just three years and already this car has registered a huge fan base. This car also performs really well with the help of the 1.1 litre iRDE2 engine and 1.2 litre Kappa engine. Hyundai i20
Hyundai’s initial thought before manufacturing Hyundai i20 was to get a replacement for Hyundai Getz. The tag line ‘Uber Cool’ attached with this car goes really well with its looks. It offers a great cabin space as well as boot space unlike Hyundai i10. The interiors of Hyundai i20 are very elegant and offer a very decent and comfortable environment. This car is available in three variants namely 1.2 litre petrol, 1.4 litre petrol and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engines. The first engine performs decently well but the main focus is on the rest of the two engine which sees to perform exceptionally. Ride quality could have been better if this car wouldn’t have been fitted with those soft suspension, but anyways this car makes a compelling choice in its category.

Hyundai Accent
I know you’ll say that this car is now old enough to get retired but then that is the strongest point of this car that after being too old, still this car is one of the hot favourite of customers in its category. There are basically only two sedans which have done a commendable job in their lifetime which are Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Verna (which I’ll talk about later). This car debuted in the year 1999, but then after many changes this car is very different from what it has been earlier. Anyways, this car look ok but it delivers a great performance with its 1.5 litre petrol engine. This car is available with two fuel options either the petrol or diesel engine. The latter has been discontinued now. One more thing about this car is its ride quality which offers a comfortable ride even on the most uncomfortable roads.

Hyundai Verna
As I already mentioned that Hyundai has produced only two sedans that have managed to do well in the Indian automobile market. Hyundai Verna is one amongst the two. This car offers a mix bag of awesome looks and powerful performance. This car is available in two engine namely 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine. While the petrol variant delivers an average performance the diesel engine on the other hand delivers a terrifically awesome performance. Though the negative part of this car is its handling but then since it offers a good ride even on the bad roads, I’ll keep myself mum on that.

Engine Options:
1599cc (petrol)\ 1493cc (diesel)
Powertrain:
5 speed manual\ 4 speed automatic
Power:

Hyundai Sonata Transform
This car is going to be launched in an all new avatar in the Indian market by 2012. So it is really important for me to rate this car before the new one comes. But that is not the prime reason for writing this. The prime reason is the looks and the performance of this car and nothing else. The looks of this car has been designed very carefully, giving though to each and every details. This well built car also offers a good space inside. Interiors are really elegant and the key feature is the keyless entry and keyless ignition. Ride quality of this car is really comfortable. This car is available in two engine types namely 2.4 litre petrol and 2.0 litre diesel engines. The only problem according to me in this car is its handling. For me the positive side of buying this car is more than the negative side so for a chauffer driven customer, this car is a good buy.

Engine Options:
2359cc (petrol)\ 1991cc (diesel)
Powertrain:
5 speed manual\ 6 speed manual\ 4 speed automatic

The Catch:
Rs 15.3 lakhs to Rs 18 lakhs.
Hyundai Santa Fe
We have not heard much about Hyundai’s luxury car. No, seriously the success story of Hyundai’s luxury cars has always been a low lying affair. But the company with many high hopes launched their newest offering in the Indian market that this SUV might boost the company’s profile in the luxury car market. Though it’s not being manufactured in India but being imported as a CBU in India, this SUV has already gathered many fans. Looks of this SUV are definitely appealing but that’s not all, this SUV sports a 2.2 litre diesel engine. This common rail diesel engine delivers an amazing performance which keeps all its competitors at bay. This SUV is available in both two wheels and all wheel drive which is again a plus point in its profile. This SUV is also available with the hill descent control, elegant interiors and many other features that offer this SUV a car like drive and appeal. No wonder there are so many hopes and aspiration attached with this car oops SUV.
