Volvo V40 Hatchback Launched For Rs 24.75 Lakh

If the V40 Cross Country of Volvo isn’t of your taste, here is another option to look for. The V40 hatchback which India was eyeing long back is finally launched for a starting price of Rs 24.75 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.

In terms of segmentation, V40 Cross Country is the crossover sibling of V40 hatchback with the raised height and added gimmicks, which the hatchback had shed to compete the likes of BMW 1-Series and Mercedes A-Class. New paint scheme, darkened front grille and air dam, no body cladding and lowered height are some traits that are owned by the new car which differentiates it against the Cross sibling. Panoramic glass roof and new alloy wheels add some more details to it. In fact, Swedish carmaker had made available two variants of standard V40 across the sales floor – Kinetic and R-Design, where each of them are powered by a D3 diesel engine of 147bhp mated to a six-speed auto transmission. ABS, airbags – front, side, curtain and pedestrian, and traction control are the standard features available alongside the mood lighting, powered front seats with memory, dual zone climate control, and parking sensors.

Thus, the only benefit of buying a Volvo in India is its unmatched quality standards, because the cars are imported directly into the country as a CBU (completely built unit). And this new hatchback V40 no exception will get imported from Belgium. In the time when every carmaker at the top of line from Germany are going the ‘Make in India’ way, Volvo sticking to CBU route is still interesting to look at.

Prices of Volvo V40 Hatchback:

Volvo V40 Kinetic – Rs 24.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

Volvo V40 R-Design – Rs 27.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

Sachin Tendulkar had stroked the bat throughout his career like no other. And we also know he is making enough money even after taking a retirement from the cricket. Numbers of endorsement deals, the status of handing the most prestigious Mumbai Indians team of IPL, owned by the India’s richest man, are there to say about it. But his association with BMW India is something else which Sachin has signed off the way from cricket. It’s all about the ‘motorsports’ and ‘cars’ when comes to deal with BMW, and our Little Master does that very well too.

A car enthusiast by every mean, today BMW cashing on the image of Tendulkar has launched the special edition cars in India. Called Sachin Tendulkar Signature Edition, the car model ranges from 3-Series to 5-Series, we mean from the entry-level sedan to mid-size sedan. For the exclusivity, only 15 units are up for sale in the Indian market. It seems, the reason behind these exclusive cars is to mark and assure the blend of localization which is raised to near 100% across all BMW produced in India due to the Make in India strategy of the recent PM. Sachin Tendulkar was there on the day when BMW rolled out its first product on the manufacturing line in Chennai under the new localization scheme.

BMW 3-Series And 5-Series Sachin Tendulkar Signature Edition Launched In India

BMW India charges Rs 35.90 lakh for 3-Series, while 5-Series commences the range from 46.90 lakh onwards. Both cars use diesel engine of four-cylinder as standard that sends the max output of 184bhp in the smaller, and 190bhp in the bigger sedan.

Thus, BMW India is now able to sell those limited edition cars like a hot cake. After all, cricket is a religion in India, and not treated as a mere game, where Sachin Tendulkar is called a God of it.

BMW 3-Series GT Sports Line Launched For Rs 39.90 Lakh

BMW 3-Series GT is unmistakable out on the road. The coupe-like silhouette, bigger appearance, and extraordinary power underneath the hood are mere definitions to portray it in the limelight. Seemed BMW wasn’t contended with the said, as it now launched the Sports Line trim of the model in India, which is more exclusive and upmarket, strewn with luxuries never seen before, for a price of Rs 39.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

On outer, the blackened kidney grille with darkened slats and chromed outlining, black chrome finish on the exhaust, and the bumper tweaked minutely are some visual differentiations carried out for the 3-Series GT Sports Line.

Open the door, and one can notice the distinct door sills with the letters mentioning “BMW Sport”, ambient lighting (white or orange), contrasting stitches in red across the seats and steering wheel and wood trim with detailing of chrome.

In addition to those aforesaid features, the standard enthralling cues that follow it are frameless doors, active rear spoiler and sports seats.

Commenting at the launch, Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said the rich looking interiors hadn’t contributed to the car immensely; rather it is the features that have brought GT closer to the buyers. New 3 Series Gran Turismo Sport Line is well designed and looked after on outer as well interior, those high-gloss Black cues offer it the unmistakable glamour.

Audi RS6 Avant Launched At Rs 1.35 Crore Ex-Showroom Delhi

How about a utility car with performance packed up to the brim will sell across India? Will it really attract the niche? Those were the questions we asked ourselves when got to know about the launch of Audi RS6 Avant for India. The RS6 Avant is actually an estate version of A6 sedan packed dipped in performance. And to launch this one of its kind vehicle in the country, famous cricketer Virat Kohli was invited to the venue. Not to disagree, Mr. Kohli recently bought the fastest Audi R8 for nearly Rs 3 crore, so convincing him for this mustn’t have proven a difficult task to the PR executives.

Audi RS6 Avant in India is slotted as a halo product, and comes only in one variant, which uses a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine to send the max power of 560bhp and peak torque of 700Nm, with the top-speed of 305kmph and 0-100kmph attained in 3.9seconds. How one can forget the famous Audi’s Quattro AWD system which receives the traction from an 8-speed tiptronic transmission.

Audi RS6 Avant Launched At Rs 1.35 Crore Ex-Showroom Delhi

Just like performance, A6 Avant is high on visual drama too, wears the same appealing Audi attire all over. One can find the latest set of LED headlamps on front, and regular family grille. Quattro lettering, wide air intake, and side skirts offer more of the appealing. The wheels measuring 20-inches as standard can go up to 21-inch in the optional list. Moreover, the RS6 Avant belongs to racing category, and so had developed some business traits for that. The feature of suspension lowering the body up to 20mm will help it to vroom with zest into corners and move out of the curves with eagerness.

Last but not the least, turn around the car to its back, and we were surprised to see the couple of huge exhausts slotted on the sides with a diffuser caved in-between, really posing this car as a bombastic wagon.

However, the huge price tag of Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) has a reason, as RS6 Avant will enter India as a CBU (completely built unit) so a large amount of duty on this car had made it to burgeon up to this.

Maruti Celerio Diesel Launched For Rs 4.65 Lakh

From today onwards, the phones at Maruti dealerships in India will not stop ringing; the reason, this India based carmaker had finally launched the car which everyone was waiting for – the Celrerio diesel.

Interesting part of the car is not its running cost or the nation’s highest fuel-economy. It is the 793cc diesel engine which the maker had developed in-house in the history of nearly 63 years. Yes, till date the carmaker was dependent on others for diesel engine, like Fiat Multijet to name as of now. But with the launch of its own unit in the market, it has claimed a stake at the first sight and secured a top position in the list of cars with maximum fuel-economy (as per ARAI) by dethroning Ciaz. The famous sources of industry say return of 27.62kms from a single litre of diesel is due to its light weight structure which tips the scale at 900kgs.

Thus, the Celerio is nothing new except for the changes in its drivetrain and a badge of DDiS 125. Even on variant side it too stood same as of the petrol version, except that mid-trim VDi buyer will now get to enjoy the benefit of ABS which was available with top-end ZDi earlier in petrol.

Maruti Celerio Diesel Launched For Rs 4.65 Lakh

The 793cc diesel engine, at 89 kg is India’s lightest, had seen an investment of Rs 900 crore, which by the car’s positioning it seems the return on investment will easily manage to escape the balance sheet with Maruti touching the roof of sales every month. However, some shaky bits also remain in the hood of Celerio diesel, where the first comes is its two-cylinder, whereas the other is its power output of 47bhp. Given that, the torque of 125Nm covers up all glitches and niggles faced due to the shortened power output.

At the moment, a five-speed manual transmission is only available on sale. The rumours of AMT equipped version is still not decided for the production.

Hence, Celerio isn’t the only compact car in India with a diesel option. Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai Grand i10 are there since long back.

  • Following is the price list of Celerio diesel ex-showroom, Delhi:
  • Celerio LDi – Rs. 4.65 lakh
  • Celerio VDi – Rs. 4.95 lakh
  • Celerio ZDi – Rs. 5.25 lakh
  • Celerio ZDi (O) – Rs. 5.71 lakh

Tata Safari Storme Facelift Launched At Rs 9.99 Lakh

Finally, after lot of cuts Safari Storme facelift by Tata Motors had reached the finish line at launch venue just on time. Priced for Rs 9.99 lakh, a shade fewer than 1 million, the maker had focused on marketing spunk to get Storme facelift better responses, which the new price tag says it all.

However, Safari Storme do not wish to remain expensive with the facelift, dealers are accepting the bookings for same for an amount ranging between Rs 10,000 and 50,000

The major change on the SUV goes with the honeycomb mesh front grille which is lifted from Range Rover, thanks to the Tata Motor’s acquisitions of JLR (Jaguar Land Rover). More of the amendments are carried out inside this time to make it more focused for drivers and comfortable for passengers.

Firstly, the new steering wheel from Bolt and Zest comes as an initial visual appeal. Black theme with silver accents running across is another.

Now, despite being a strong competitor to modern-rivals of the segment, Storme facelift misses out on infotainment system which had become a standard on the hatchbacks nowadays. Other features like rear parking sensors, armrest for rear passengers, steering-mounted controls, new music system with USB, aux-in, Bluetooth compatibility and a display screen doesn’t make up for the loss.

The engine bay gets a revamp too, a boost of 10bhp makes the 2.2-litre Varicor engine lifted from Aria to send the power of 148bhp and 320Nm of torque.

Following is the price list of Tata Safari Storme facelift ex-showroom Delhi:

LX – Rs 9.99 lakh

EX – Rs 11.60 lakh

VX – Rs 13.02 lakh

VX 4×4 – Rs 14.35 lakh

Psst…the base model had become expensive by Rs 40,000 than the previous model and still misses out on rear disc brakes and jumpseats for 3rd row, while the rest have remained unchanged.

Fuel-Efficiency: 14.1 kmpl as per ARAI

Hyundai Named New Compact SUV As Creta

Comfortable, easy to drive and more like sedans; compact SUVs are the next big thing for India. Ford who broke the ice with its EcoSport against the hatchback segment will soon find a rival from Hyundai entering the country. Before that, the Korean carmaker decided to give the audience a shot of excitement. As confirmed, the SUV that Hyundai will soon venture with is named as ‘Creta’ rather than ix25, which it tagged earlier. From now onwards, the carmaker had confirmed to use Creta for the model across the globe.Hyundai Named New Compact SUV As Creta

However, the launch of Hyundai Creta is not at a distant, as reported it will see the daylight here during 2015. That’s not all. It is speculated to measure 4.27 metres in length, which means the same will not withstand the likes of Ecosport, as not fallen under the sub-4 metre category in order to save the tax. Rather the likes of Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti S-Cross must better take care, because the marketers have aimed to plot it somewhere between Rs 12-14 lakh.

Now, taking to the engine, Hyundai had positioned it in the slightly premium category as compared to the segment’s standards, so a 1.6-litre diesel with 126bhp will suit it better. The petrol motor of same displacement (1.6-litre) too will arrive at a later stage with 121bhp on offer. The former option is expected to use a six-speed manual, while the auto transmission may follow the league later on. On the other side, petrol engine will use a five-speed manual to drive the sales.

Isuzu Motors India Launched D-MAX Air-Conditioned And Cab-Chassis Variants

Followed by staggering response from buyers in India, Isuzu finally geared up and launched the D-Max in two variants: Air-Conditioned and Cab-Chassis.

The pickup truck in the country is still looked upon a small commercial vehicle, unlike as a lifestyle product than those available in US. Still, due to some conscious buyer and business houses, the pickup segment in India is witnessing a good surge for the market it caters to. And Isuzu with huge expectations had brought the two vehicles on Indian shores, of which one is the D-Max pickup. Today, the Isuzu has extended its range and rolled-out air-conditioned and cab-chassis variants in the country to meet the surging demand and expectations of buyers.

Isuzu Motors India Launched D-MAX Air-Conditioned And Cab-Chassis Variants

The other new variant called Cab-Chassis will fulfill demands of business owners operating businesses like Food & Catering, Perishables, Hardware, FMCG, and many more. With this new trim on offer they are now able to construct the bodies as per their convenience. Apparently, this new trim will pay the maker in huge number of sales. A single-cab chassis, and the long bed to raise the structure is what everyone in India demands, said a one of the source.

Commenting about those additions of new variants to the lineup, Mr. Naohiro Yamaguchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India suggested, a comprehensive range is now up for sale in India which will help business owners from diverse backgrounds to meet their needs.  Both the variants are made to suit the buyer’s conditions in India. A standard air-condition is what everyone needs. And the tailor-made cab chassis will figure out various new groups which were apparently left out in the initial phase. ‘Go More, Do More and Get More’, is echoed clearly in these new vehicles, said Mr. Naohiro Yamaguchi.

Hence, as per the official release, no amendments are carried out on the technical aspects. It continue to do with the same 2.5-litre, four-cylinder intercooled and turbocharged diesel engine married to a five-speed manual gearbox. The machine produces max power of 134bhp @ 3,600rpm and 294Nm of peak torque @ 1,800-3,200rpm.

Audi R8 And Lamborghini Huracan May Get 2.5L Turbo For China

China always derives special treatment from the carmakers, just like the extended wheelbase versions of sedan and so on. Expectedly, this new is not too different from the given condition, and a source confirmed the People Republic will get a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine fitted inside the very muscular Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan.

The decision is taken by VW Group to go for this new venture in the bay as a result for the heavy taxation on bigger engine displacements in Asia. But it is very disappointing to imagine a Lamborghini Huracan with such drivetrain in place of the rowdy V10 engine.Audi R8 And Lamborghini Huracan China

Audi has already portrayed TT Clubsport Turbo with the 2.5-liter motor with electric boost that churns out 600PS of max power and 650NM of torque, enough to pull either of the cars with same excitement, but with smaller displacement of ‘less excitement’.

However, the fun and experience of driving a naturally aspirated engine is really out of this world, and that is even explained better by one of the top hats of Audi. As the small motors need electric boosting even after turbocharged, the weight is suffered due to the additional kerb of battery pack, which further dilutes the thrill of performance, he commented

Hence, during the recent past Audi too was compelled with the weak demand of V8 and as result it dropped it from the lineup for pushing more the bigger displacements. So, it could become possible for the maker to sell R8 with a 2.5-litre.
