The Maruti Wagon R managed to outdo the previous month’s top two performers, the Swift twins, to take second place. The popular city car clocked 17,119 units in June, gaining two places compared to May’s 11,757 units.

Maruti Wagon R

Maruti Swift Dzire

Maruti not only dominated the podium but also sealed the 4th position with the Swift hatchback which registered 13,632 units. However, the hatchback has lost two places as sales dropped by 24 per cent compared to the previous month (17,936 units). The Swift facelift can help the car move up a few places.

Mahindra Bolero

The good old Mahindra Bolero continues to be an indispensable cash-cow for the company. At 7,909 units sales, the month-on-month growth has actually declined (8,846 units in May) but the utility vehicle (UV) managed to gain a place, overtaking the Hyundai Grand i10 in the process. Meanwhile, the next gen model is testing extensively to make the Bolero future-proof.

Hyundai Grand i10

The Hyundai Grand i10 has become the fastest car in India to surpass the 100,000 sales milestone but the hatchback lost fifth place to the Bolero by just 8 units. The Grand i10 posted 7,901 units in June against 9,317 units in May.

HondaJet Soars To Sky For The First Flight

Reportedly, Honda Aircraft Company said that the first production HondaJet achieved its initial flight. The event of this new milestone happened at the company’s world headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“With this first flight, the program has entered an exciting phase as we prepare for delivery,” said Honda Aircraft Company President and CEO Michimasa Fujino. “Today’s celebration is the culmination of extensive engineering and production efforts, and this is an important achievement in bringing the world’s most advanced light jet to market.”

The first batch of flying-machines that will officially land into the service by 2015 soared off the skies (for fist time) from the Piedmont Triad International Airport (KGSO) at 10:18 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. During the 84-minute flight, the airplane touched a height of 15,500 feet and reached a top speed of 348 Knots True Air Speed (KTAS). Followed by a smooth landing, the crew received greetings from more than 1,000 Honda Aircraft team members in order to have commemorated the milestone.

Honda Jet Soars To Sky For The First Flight

“Aircraft production continues its steady pace in advance of entry into service with ten aircraft now on the final assembly line”, claimed the official letter of Honda Aircraft Company. “This steady build up supports the company’s objective to have aircraft ready for delivery immediately after Federal Aviation Administration type certification is achieved.”

As per the official source, the HondaJet will be single pilot certified and presently is up for sale in North America and Europe through the HondaJet dealer network.

Honda Mobilio’s First Indian Trailer Film Released

Honda Mobilio went officially on-air. Appeared in the first official video, the MPV of Honda is about to be launched soon.

The Indian comedian and the host of famous TV-series ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ Kapil Sharma is casted to showcase its features and how it is inclined towards the Indian buyers.

Though we already knew Honda is changing day after day, but would have hired Mr. Sharma wouldn’t have thought of. It seems the show of launch is going to be big, and that’s why the Honda doesn’t wants to lose out on any of the constraints to competitors.

Honda Mobilio

It was noticed in the clipping, the most appreciation was given on the space where technically the Mobilio measures 4,386 mm in length, 1,683 mm in width, 1,603 mm in height with 2,650 mm wheelbase. It was also touted to be a perfect bet for the family of seven (7seater), but as per to us the last row seating at the Delhi Auto Expo version was slightly cramped. Hope so, that would have been looked upon for it when in production. The fuel-efficiency will also be decent with the Honda’s 1.5-liter diesel engine that was planted in the new City and Amaze.

However, it can be guessed the pricing will make it a winner against the likes of Maruti Ertiga and such.

Just make sure, watch the video posted down this blog; and in the recent murmurs of industry the Japanese carmaker had said to display Mobilio at the malls of most of the cities.

One can mention their thoughts of how the pricing could be in the comments box below…

New Car Launches in July 2014

Elections are over, July is about to begin, and the rain showers are in the mood of playing hide and seek with Indians, but all the aforesaid elements are not going to pull off the aspirations of the automobile launches in the coming month.

However, the automakers in India were waiting for the political conditions to get stable and let the PM’s seat to decide its fate. Now, with almost everything seems fallen in place, we get the hands on the list of vehicles that are going to launch in the nation during July 2014.

1.  Honda Mobilio:

The first one to fall in the list is the Honda Mobilio MPV based on the Brio platform. An expectation of space comfort and good driveability is what the MPV is asked to deliver to the fullest. Engine specifications of 1.5-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel with the same tuning provided in the new Honda City and the Amaze will be seen on this. Expectations are there the CVT may be seen on it at a later stage, but the 5-speed manual to do its job till then.

Its rival will be the Toyota Innova, Maruti Ertiga and the upcoming Datsun GO+.

2.  Volkswagen Polo Facelift:

Volkswagen Polo facelift is the major launch of VW in India, as there wasn’t a major launch happened for the carmaker since long ago. The cosmetic changes aren’t the tweaks to talk about, but the technical changes are also reported to be witnessed. 1.2 TSI turbo-petrol likely to make a comeback, where the 1.5-litre TDI engine will be available in two states of tune – 89bhp and 104bhp, the latter one to be engulfed in the bay of GT TDI.

Volkswagen Polo Facelift

3.  Ford Fiesta Facelift:

Ford wasn’t doing well with the sedan segment for some years, where the Fiesta facelift unveiled in India at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 is touted to surely bring in the fortunes to the American carmaker. About to launch next month, the facelift will not be a host of any mechanical changes, with only cosmetic changes to be seen at the best. The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel with five-speed manual gearbox in three trims – Ambiente, Trend and Titanium shall be retained with its dignity, but all in a new avatar.

Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Fiat Linea, Volkswagen Vento and their likes are going to be its strong rival.

Ford Fiesta Facelift

4.  Audi A3:

The segment opener Audi A3 is about to begin an all new trend in India with its launch, setting a class apart with the luxury compact sedan segment. About to be the cheapest Audi available in India, the compact sedan of Ingolstadt based German carmaker will adorn the customers with the 1.8-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines mated to Audi’s S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, and not to be said the quality levels matching the level of A4 sedan.

Hopefully, the monopoly doesn’t exist as per the rules of economics and here it is no exception, the Audi A3 will rival for the space in market against the Mercedes A-class and B-class and BMW’s 1-series. The direct contender against it will be launched in India by 2015 and that’s none other than the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan.

Audi A3

It will be interesting to see who will win and who will lose. Hope so, all of the above mentioned models are crucial for their brands to throng in India, so losing on them will be a big turn down.

Honda Mobilio Diesel MPV Spotted for First Time in India

The spy-shots of Datsun GO Plus MPV rose abundant of eyebrows last week, and were flooded with queries about its exact launch date. Now the rival of GO Plus – the Honda Mobilio (Diesel) MPV, too is spotted for the first time in the lenses of spies (in India).

Wearing none of the camouflages, this MPV of Honda is sure to take on the competition with a big bang rattling the sales with Honda’s new 1.5-liter i-DTEC four-cylinder diesel engine and the 1.5-liter petrol engine options.

Petrol is reported to be delivering 119 PS of power output and 145 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, where the diesel motor to return the Amazes’ equivalent 100 PS max power and 200 Nm of torque. Five-speed manual gearbox to engulf the bays of both the fuel trims, while the possibility of CVT to be ruminating only the petrol variant.

Honda Mobilio Diesel MPV

On the cosmetic aspect, the spotted vehicle is the V trim of its diesel trim of model plate (identifiable due to i-DTEC badge on bootlid), which seems to be one of high-end variants – sports fog lamps, alloy wheels, rear wiper and a reverse camera tucked above the registration plate enclosure on the note.

The Indian-spec Mobilio looks almost identical to the one sold in Indonesian market.

Honda Mobilio Spied in India side

There are news circulated round the web the Honda Mobilio will be launched in India by the next month, we mean July 2014. It is based on the Brio’s platform extended to house three-rows, and rival the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Datsun GO Plus MPV. However, for the Indians who thinks the Honda’s MPV will be a strong answer to the MPV monarch “Toyota Innova”, are in actual on the wrong side of conversation, because the Innova is more powerful and bigger than the rest, for which the automaker is asking such a magnificent price. This Honda MPV will sit between the bigger in size ‘Innova’ and the smallest yet least powerful ‘Maruti Ertiga’, giving the options of an economical MPV with subtle power, and not the least the trust of Honda as well.

Expected to be sold in good numbers like that of the mass oriented vehicle, the numbers according to the data released by Honda indicates Ertiga contributes approximately 12,000 units a month.

Honda Mobilio Launch Confirmed: Tipped To Debut In July In India

Notwithstanding the slowdown in the market, Japanese automaker Honda Motors will be introducing its MPV (multi-utility passenger vehicle) Mobilio, initially showcased at the Auto Expo this year, in India this July. Based on the successful Brio platform, Honda is hopeful that the seven-seater vehicle will help boost the MPV segment.

Jnaneswar Sen Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) at Honda Cars India Limited said: “The Honda Mobilio will be introduced in July this year.” “Asked about the pricing of the vehicle, he said “It is still early to talk about the pricing of the car. All I can say we are focusing on making it an attractive and compelling package. He expressed confidence that “the introduction of Mobilio will revive the MPV segment.”

Amid the sluggish automotive market in India, the MPV segment too has shown a decline of 15% in the past financial year. Sales of Toyota Innova that has dominated the segment for some time now, nosedived 28%, whereas Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s sales slipped 22%.

Honda Mobilio
About the opportunities in the segment, Mr. Sen said: “If we consider the current market size and the players that are there, the MPV segment adds up to between 10,000 and 12,000 units a month, so a year’s volume is about 1.5 lakh units, and that’s not a small segment.” He said that the segment grew very well a year ago and the decline in the last financial year (2013-14) was actually in line with the industry de-growth.”

Honda Mobilio interiors

Honda, which sells products such as Freed and Odyssey under this segment internationally, said with Mobilio they “are looking at the car as a personal vehicle for large Indian families instead of a commercial vehicle.” Mr. Sen said: “We expect that Mobilio will appeal not only to MPV segment customers who generally have large families, but also to families that have conventionally opted for an SUV or a sedan. Styling is one thing consumers are looking for in this class and we believe we have delivered on this front with the Mobilio.”

Honda Mobilio Back View
Mobilio will be offered in diesel and petrol versions. Honda till now has been able to buck the declining sales trend in the automotive industry in India on the back of recently launched successful models —the new City and Amaze. In addition to Mobilio, the automaker would be introducing the new Jazz later in this fiscal year, Mr. Sen said.
