Just ahead of its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche has unveiled the 911 sports car. Powered by a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, the Porsche 911 will come in two variants – the Carrera and Carrera S. The engine in 911 produces a peak power and torque of 356bhp and 450Nm in the Carrera and 416bhp and 500Nm in the Carrera S respectively. Engine in both cars have been mated to either a 7-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

It seems German automaker Porsche is all set to join the ranks of Tesla when it unveils its first all electric model at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. In all probability the car will be named Pajun and will share some similarities with the Audi A6 in terms of look and overall appearance.
But underneath its body, the Pajun will be more similar to the R8 e-tron. It is likely that the Pajun will carry a setup similar to the e-tron where the car may have a similar 92kWh battery combined with an electric motor which will be capable of doling out a peak output of something around 456bhp and a max torque of 920Nm.
This first all electric venture of Porsche is expected to hit the production lines in the year 2019 at the earliest.
Copying in China is escalated to another level. After tracing the designs of big SUVs, they have penned down, or can say build, an imitation of Macan compact SUV with the ultimate precision. The masterminds behind all this are the engineers and designers at Zotye.
This carmaker had launched its car called T700 is actually an imitated Porsche Macan. Priced for 3x lesser than the base variant of German model, it is bound to make generous sales in the country. The reason, every millimeter is penned down with ultimate precision, except for the headlamps and tail lamps. If one overlooked the logo he can mistake it for the authentic Porsche for some reason. If asked us, Zotye must get a score of near to 100 percent if felicitated at honorary platform of imitation in automotives.
On moving inside, the carmaker had used a tablet for the infotainment system but the central console seems lifted from Porsche Cayenne.
Lift open the bonnet, one can find the 2-litre unit doing the job as sending the output of 177bhp in naturally-aspirated form.
An avid automotive reader would surely remember the incident of Audi R8 that caught fire in 2013, and Gautam Singhania helped the individuals to get out of the car safely before it turned into a carcass. Now, Mr. Singhania had stormed to social media to resolve the Yohan Poonawallah’s Porsche Cayenne case.
Yohan Poonawallah, a Pune based billionaire industrialist, reported his Cayenne burnt to ashes on April 25, 2015, when a fire broke out of the bonnet on the wee hours. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the posh SUV suffered a total loss.
However, the outrage on social media by Mr. Singhani received responses from some likeminded as well. They tweeted about the bad services of Audi and Porsche, which seems such international brands are taking Indian consumers for a ride by providing sub-standard vehicles. On the top of all these, Mr. Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India, remained the center of attraction to get blamed for irresponsive behavior of the company. Furthermore, he too acted with same arrogance when that incidental fire turned Audi R8 into ashes a couple of years back, recalled the social media trend.
However, the final statement is still not delivered, but the agitation of Gautam Singhania suggested everyone should ban buying these cars unless and until Yohan do not receive the justice. After all, it is a matter of life and death.
The case so far…
Yohan Poonawallah’s Porsche Cayenne Turbo (2011) of black color caught fire on April 26 at 5.40 a.m. when his driver was returning to the home at Breach Candy after dropping some guests at Taj Lands End in Bandra. The SUV erupted flames as soon as it reached Hill Road, Bandra, where some outsiders spotted it and reported to the person in driver’s seat. Fire brigade was called to douse off the flames, the car was then towed to Porsche service centre in Mumbai. It is now more than a month and the company failed to realize the cause. In fact, Yohan Poonawallah also wrote a letter straightly to Anil Reddi, where the as being the director of Porsche India he asked him to wait for his reply in next 48 hours, which the business baron hadn’t received yet. As per to Yohan, the company hadn’t found any expert in the country to investigate the matter.
On the side, Porsche India when contacted replied that they are aware of incident and are in direct touch with the owner; ascertained to take immediate action to find out the root cause of fire soon.

Followed by the last addition of new Cayenne to the lineup, now Porsche India has brought us the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS for Rs 1.15 crore and Rs 1.17 crore respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).
Both these mid-engined sports machine are the uprated version of their models. A flat 6-cylinder 3.4-litre petrol engine sits in the engine bay sending power of 326bhp and torque of 370Nm for the Boxster. The Cayman due to its segmentation receives the outputs in terms of 335bhp and 380Nm of torque from the same engine. A 7-speed PDK auto gearbox in both the cars drives power to rear wheels, and what worth watching was the Sports Chrono package as a standard on the duos. Buyers can also opt for the six-speed manual gearbox if wished to drive the raw power like it is meant.
After all, Porsches are about the performance than exquisite luxuries. The Boxster GTS in Sports mode reaches 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds. Cayman GTS on the same strip clocks similar speed at 4.6 seconds Top-speed clocked by Boxster GTS is 279kmph; and 283kmph for Cayman GTS.

When nothing happens to spice up the mood, drive a 911, says an old auto enthusiast. Don’t step back by its gushing power; it is well supported by driving dynamics and agile control. Now, all that excitement available in India as a stock 911 got enhanced after the launch of 911 Targa 4 in the country priced at Rs 1.56 crore. Hence, this is just a one treat, Porsche do offer more variant called as Targa 4S costing Rs 1.75 crore (all prices are ex-showroom Maharashtra).
As it can be seen the Targa is referred for the semi-convertible cars from Porsche, the B-pillar on this 911 is stiffened whereas the C-pillar is chopped off from the package. For a better appeal, the widows given here are of wraparound style which makes up for the better aerodynamics.
Underneath the hood, Porsche 911 Targa 4 grosses 345bhp and 390Nm from the 3.4-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine. The more powerful version of 4S dwells a 3.8-litre engine which shoots up the power to 395bhp and 440Nm of torque. When added with the Chrono package both the cars can reach 0-100 in less than five seconds. The 911 Targa 4 is able to achieve the top-speed of 282km/h, whereas the Targa 4S sweeps the speedometer upto 296km/h. Porsche says, the latter (Targa 4S) can be further served with Carrera S Powerkit for a bump of 30bhp.
Both the cars offer all-wheel drive, and are mated to a dual-clutch (PDK) 7-speed gearbox. Roof takes 19 seconds to open or close. Additionally, it also holds important features like auto start- stop, map-controlled thermal management of engine coolant and system recuperation.
So, those looking out for serious fun on the racetrack and also a viable option for the drive to coffee shops and hangouts, this is a perfect buy for them. Personally, as an auto enthusiast, we believe in driving the hard-top version because of the confidence it serves, and the roofless lacks some of it due to the amendment in the chassis.
