The time when the Lok Sabha Elections of 2014 brought the Narendra Modi as new Prime Minister to India, automakers reported errant sales in the month. But suddenly out of the surprise Ford India came up with astonishing sales numbers for the month of May 2014. Reported to have sold 12,288 vehicles in combined domestic wholesales and exports, it surged a more than double fold compared to the 5,993 units sold in the corresponding period last year.

Domestic sales stood at 6,053 vehicles in May, up 51 percent from 4,002 vehicles. The company’s exports fared 6,235 vehicles, against 1,991 units in the corresponding period last year.

“A stable government is a positive development for overall economic and business sentiment in the country. We are hopeful that the new government will support ongoing industry-friendly initiatives like the excise duty reduction and look at further positive measures to improve consumer sentiment,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India.

“We would look forward to the new government undertaking measures such as introduction of GST, rationalization of taxes and encourage foreign investment to promote sustained growth of the economy and the automotive sector.”

Adding to all the joyous moments for Ford, it also reopened the bookings of all variants of the award-winning all-new Ford EcoSport compact urban SUV. Since the launch, Ford had witnessed gate-crashing bookings, amidst the tenure it was compelled to shelve the bookings because of incapability of production in such huge numbers.

“With over 50,000 units of the EcoSport delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extend the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers,” added Piparsania
