Launched on 24th August 2010, the
Toyota Fortuner in India, an imported CBU of Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited certainly grabbed eyeballs which the company was expecting. Irrespective of the fact that it was highly overpriced at that time, it was just what the Indian masses were expecting out of it. The looks of the car are sporty and masculine. Its butch looks gell well with its go anywhere capability. This SUV sports 17 inch alloy wheels. The interiors are the most disappointing as they look similar to the ones in the Toyota Innova.
Toyota Fortuner in India has a variety of features inside like the tilt adjustable steering wheel, audio player with the audio controls available on the steering wheel, six speaker outlet, climate control, bluetooth connectivity, multi information display, tyre pressure monitor, height adjustable seats, and as a surprise, the spare tyre is positioned under the rear bumper.
Toyota Fortuner in India is available only with 3.0 litre CRDI engine. This engine is accompanied with a variable turbocharger, which makes this engine capable of generating a maximum power of 163 bhp and a peak torque of 343 Nm. This car in regards to the performance is really good and especially this car has excellent fuel efficiency. This car is available with five speed manual transmission and an all wheel drive. With a top speed of 173 kmph, this car can go up to 100kmph in just 11.4 seconds. The safety features of this SUV includes 15 inch disc brakes in the front, ABS and EBD, front airbags, global outstanding assessment body, seat belts for all passengers, side intrusion beam, multi reflector quad headlamps and LED high mounted tail lamp. What we sorely miss in this car is the automatic transmission. We hope that someday,Toyota Kirloskar Motors will launch a petrol variant of the Toyota Fortuner which will support an automatic transmission.
