Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited was established in the year 1997 when Toyota Motors Corporation of Japan offered a partnership deal to the Kirloskar Group of India. Their philosophy of business is simple, 'Putting Customer First'. Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited is the eighth largest car manufacturer in India. The mission statement of this joint venture includes "playing a major role in the development of the automotive industry and the creation of employment opportunities, not only through its dealer network, but also through ancillary industries". Currently Toyota Kirloskar Motors has a dealership of 97 across 68 cities in India. The company also promised that they will increase their dealership to 150 by the end of the year 2010. Toyota Kirloskar Motors have registered a growth rate of 107 percent, by selling 55,497 vehicles in India, compared to that of in the year 2008.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited's current manufacturing plant is in Bangalore. This manufacturing plant has a capacity of producing 80,000 vehicles annually. With the investment of Rs. 3,200 crores, Toyota Kirloskar Motors is planning to construct a second manufacturing plant near the first plant itself, which is expected to have a capacity to produce 70,000 vehicles annually, which can be increased to 200,000 if required. Currently Toyota manufactures only three of its car in India namely Toyota Etios, Toyota Corolla and the Toyota Innova. Toyota Kirloskar Motors also imports most of its models like the Toyota Camry, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Fortuner and the Toyota Prius. There are two models of Toyota which are going to be launched in India soon namely the Toyota Etios Liva in April and Toyota Avanza in October, 2011.
