Chevrolet Sales India Limited is wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors India. It is the number fifth car manufacturer in India. Chevrolet was established in India in the year 1928 with its headquarter in Bombay and a manufacturing plant in Sewree. With the National Series AB touring, the company started their production in 1928. The year 1952-53 was one of the toughest year for the company, as under the influence of 'socialists', the Indian government forced General Motors along with the other foreign companies to stop their production. However in 2003, Chevrolet re-launched the company in the Indian market with the name Chevrolet Sales India Private Limited. It was the second brand, which ultimately replaced the only brand Opel offered by the General Motors in India. Currently the company has a dealership of 205 and more than 200 service centres all over India (in 178 cities). Now the company has its manufacturing plant in Talegaon, Dabhade in Maharashtra and Halol in Gujarat. The combined manufacturing capacity of both the manufacturing plants is of 385,000 vehicles annually. Now (after the re-launch) the company has it's headquarter in two places namely Gurgaon and Halol. They also own a huge technical centre in Bangalore. The year 2010 has delivered a tremendous success to the company, as the company has sold 110,804 vehicles against 69,579 vehicles last year which ultimately means that there has been an increase of 59 percent in sales. With two discontinued models namely Chevrolet Forester and Chevrolet SRV, the Chevrolet Sales India Private Limited still has it's say in the market especially with those current upbeat cars namely Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Cruze, and the recent to the Chevrolet family, Chevrolet Beat. With the nine cars lined up, namely Chevrolet Camaro in February 2011, Chevrolet Sail, Chevrolet Corvette and Chevrolet Orlando in April 2011, Chevrolet Lumina in Julay 2011, Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Baojun in October 2011, Chevrolet Agile in November 2011 and Chevrolet M300 in December 2011, the company is expecting the year 2011 to bring even more success to them.
