Mercedes- Benz India is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Daimler AG of Germany. Daimler AG is the second largest truck manufacturer and largest car manufacturer of the world. Daimler AG besides trucks and passenger car also manufactures buses and also provide financial services. Daimler AG arrived in India in the year 1994 and established its company, Mercedes Benz India Limited. Then later on, when the company signed a partnership deal with Chrysler of Michigan, it was renamed as the Daimler Chrysler India Private Limited. Since in the year 2007, Chrysler sold most of its equity share, once again the company was renamed to Mercedes Benz India Limited. This company has always performed in terms of sales in India whether it was the tough phase or the easy one. In the first half session of the fiscal year 2010,Mercedes Benz India recorded a total sale of 2,402 vehicles. Currently Mercedes Benz has a dealership of 22 in 17 cities in 11 states and 2 union territories. The company also holds its service station in 32 cities in 16 states and 2 union territories. With a total investment of 700 million Euros, Daimler AG constructed an assembly plant (a commercial vehicle manufacturing plant) in the outskirts of Chennai. Currently all the Mercedes vehicles are either imported as CBU's or assembled locally. Except for the C class and E class which are assembled locally, all the other models are imported from Germany. The models available in the Indian market are Mercedes Benz E-Class (Sedan, Coupe, and Cabrio), Mercedes Benz C-Class (Sedan only), Mercedes Benz CLS-Class, Mercedes Benz CL-Class, Mercedes Benz M-Class, Mercedes Benz GL-Class, Mercedes Benz R-Class, Mercedes Benz SL-Class, Mercedes Benz SLK-Class, Mercedes Benz SL-Class, Mercedes Benz S-Class and Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The company also produces a Mercedes Benz Intercity Bus. The company till now has delivered all most everything which was expected and it promises to keep this faith intact in the coming years as well.
