Hindustan Motors VEER Launched in Kolkata for INR 3.30 lakhs

One of India’s oldest auto companies, Hindustan Motors recently launched the small commercial VEER, a 0.8 tonne vehicle in Kolkata, the first of the company’s new product launches planned for this fiscal year. The chairman of the company, K. Birla had announced that they would be launching many new products during the company’s AGM on 4th August.

The company’s MD, Manoj Jha, said that they are honoured by their commitment of launching the VEER, and more vehicles will soon follow. These vehicles will come from both their West Bengal based Uttarpara plant where they manufacture the Ambassador, and their facility in Chennai where they manufacture a range of Mitsubishi vehicles. They are set to expand their product offerings in the market at a high pace because of their reinforced emphasis on development of new products.

According to the company, the strong VEER is built on their Ambassador platform, while incorporating changes in suspension and transmission that is essential for a strong load carrier. This vehicle will be available in both CNG and diesel variants, which are BSIV and BSIII norms complaint, and in two models, the VEER LX, and the VEER.

While the VEER will have a separate pickup body, the VEER LX’s load tray has been integrated seamlessly into the front cab. The unique feature of this vehicle is that though it is a SCV it still offers the comfort features of a car. The front cab, which has a bench seat to seat three, is quite comfortable compared to its competing models.

It also offers traditional benefits such as low maintenance cost and spare parts availability owing to its Ambassador lineage. This vehicle is available with a driveaway chassis with a front cabin as well.

The company will initially launch the VEER in East India, and later launch in across India during this fiscal year. It will also be offered initially in stack brown and marshall cream colours. The inaugural price for the diesel VEER variant is expected to be around INR 3.30 lakhs, according to ex-showroom prices in Kolkata.
