Hyundai speeds up production of Diesel i20 and Diesel Verna







The number two car maker of India, the Hyundai Motors India, has officially announced that it will speed up the production of the diesel version of two of its most important cars, the Hyundai Verna Sedan and the Hyundai i20 premium hatchback, up to 50 percent from the month of April. According to the statement issued by the HMIL (Hyundai Motor India Limited), “The delivery of both the diesel vehicles will go up to nearly 50 percent from their current 7,000 units every month to 10,500 units each month.”

Indian automobile market is seeing an increased demand in the cars that runs on diesel and this has prompted Hyundai to grab the share of the ongoing rage with its own range of diesel automobiles. The car manufacturing firm has been sourcing diesel engines for its cars from South Korea so far to not only add on to the production volume of its diesel vehicles of i20 and Verna, but also to cut down the waiting period of these two cars for their anticipating customers.

The firm intends to keep its diesel engine manufacturing plant worth Rs 400 crore in good condition that would have a production capacity of 1.5 lakh units of vehicle per annum for three different types of engines, which includes a 1.1-litre, a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre engine. After production is improved, the waiting period of Hyundai Verna diesel will drop to 2-3 months from 6 months while it will take a customer only a month to wait for the iGen i20 once the booking has been done.
