Mahindra XUV500, which is the first globally manufactured SUV from the stables of Mahindra & Mahindra, has been welcomed with open arms by the Indian consumers. Even the car maker could not forecast the huge demand that this SUV was able to generate in the Indian auto market and the result is that the company is facing an acute capacity shortage. The problem has compounded even more due to the fact that Mahindra is also planning to launch this SUV in a lot of international markets within a very short time.
The Mahindra XUV500 has already been launched by the car maker in the South African market but the car maker is also eager to expand this vehicle to Australia and Europe.
The Chief Executive for International Operations in M&M, Pravin Shah has said that the auto maker has made plans of launching the Mahindra XUV500 in the Australian market before the closure of the present financial year. In the upcoming three months, Mahindra is also set to launch this vehicle in diverse markets in Europe, Central and South America.
In order to realize these goals that the company has set for the XUV500, Mahindra has already started the process of increasing the capacity of its manufacturing unit at Chakan, near Pune. The manufacturing unit presently has the capacity of rolling out 110 vehicles on a daily basis. Mahindra plans to increase the same to delivering 160 units on a daily basis within April. The company authorities feel that this added production is going to prove sufficient to meet the demand of this vehicle in both the international as well as domestic markets, as of now.
