New BMW X5 Launched in India for Rs 70.9 Lakh







Bigger is getting better with the passing time, and not meant to be laid back the BMW India launched its third-generation X5 for Rs 70.9 lakh ex-showroom India.

Under the hoods, the technicalities are confronted by a single engine option mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and that’s the 3.0-litre diesel engine of 255bhp and 560Nm of torque. Traction is supplied to all the wheels, and the new xDrive system planted on the BMW SUV at times can send 100% of traction either to the front axles or the rear axles depending upon the needs, after sensed by the sensors pinned in the xDrive system.

Performance wise, the 0-100kmph sprint is reached in 6.9 seconds, where the top-speed rated is the 250kmph. Buyers can enjoy X5 with three driving modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+. The new big SUV of BMW had became lighter than before by 5kg due to lightweighting techniques. And with better fuel-efficiency BMW claimed the new X5 returned 15.3kmpl during the tests.

Moving to the cosmetics, the BMW X5 receives comparatively bigger headlights and smaller front grille than the previous version. BMW had said, the X5 is launched with the Design Pure Experience package. Under the package brushed steel highlight is pastured on the front, sides and rear. Air inlets are also new. Tail pipes and front grille are given matte silver finish. Inside the cabin, interiors score the 2014 X5 a temptation with the un-lacquered wood strips across the dash, door pads and around gear lever. A 10.5-inch iDrive screen is given a big shot at the front to demonstrate the vision from rear parking camera. The leather and metal along with wood was flowed nicely with the ambient lighting. Kit like air suspension, self-levelling rear suspension and electronic damper control are standard on the X5. A Harman Kardon sound system, four-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control with braking function too are added in the standard list.

Dimensionally, the third-generation BMW X5 is 29mm longer and 5mm wider than its predecessor.

BMW dealers had already started accepting the bookings for as low as Rs 5 lakh, and deliveries are expected to begin by the first or second week of June.

The 2014 BMW X5 SUV is a direct rival to Mercedes-Benz ML-Class and both falls in the seven-seater luxury SUV category.
