Nissan X-Trail SUV and 370Z Sports Coupe Discontinued in India

Taken a step backwards to hit target with the more aggression, is seems to be the Nissan’s next strategy for Indian market. As provided none of the reasons for the action, Nissan has claimed to discontinue the sales of its X-Trail SUV and the 370Z coupe from India. However, the Teana will continue to see its Indian customers, with heading competition against the BMW, Mercedes and such regards to the price tags. It can be betted that the disappointing sales of discontinued model plates may have encouraged the Japanese carmaker to resort the aforementioned action.

However, Nissan used to directly import the X-Trail and 370Z in CBU (completely built-up units) form, which has been raised its costing factors for the buyers in the nation. Whereas, the badges like Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and Terrano are manufactured at its facility in Oragadam, Chennai, bring down the cost to lowest competitive point possible.

In numbers, the Nissan has sold 156 units of X-Trail SUV in the year 2012, and it came down to a mere figure of 7 units in 2013. On the flipside, 370Z found no takers during the last year. So the whole bigger picture is now clear in the consent as a reason for Nissan to discontinue the said models.

There were plans too underway for Nissan to be rolling a premium vehicle in the discontinued category, but it would be too early to talk as we have no updates regarding it to be coming at a near future. And if though the decision will be taken then the company needs at least couple of years to finally land its product in India.
