Nowadays, Piaggio had become very much popular with Indian audience due to Vespa but since from 1999 it was doing in the passenger vehicle segment, specifically to those of three wheeled.
Once again, this Italian automaker had launched a new three wheeler in India which is named as Ape City.
This brand new passenger carrier boards three options for fuel namely LPG, CNG and petrol, and is said to deliver better efficiency by 10% (on comparison with competitors).
On technical part, engine is set frugal by 3 valve and 200cc with high proportion of torque and power so that clinching on a steep surface would fall easy, while oil change intervals are also placed at 10,000 kms for ensuring low maintenance cost.
In addition to all these, aesthetics feels compact and lucrative with shorter wheelbase. However, seating space is also not compromised for achieving those ergonomics competency. Piaggio holds 36% of market share and aims for more, as of now, plans for exporting Ape City to Latin America, Africa and other countries in Indian subcontinent are also on the list.
For this new roll-out, Piaggio offers a warranty of 36,000 kms/12 months with 4 free services in a year. Prices exclusively stand apart from each of the variants, as mentioned below in the following table:
Petrol Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra)
LPG Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra)
CNG Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra)
Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Ravi Chopra, Chairman and MD of Piaggio India Ltd. said, “Anticipating the regulatory shift towards more eco-friendly vehicles and customer’s needs for a small, fuel efficient and comfortable 3 wheeler, we conceived the Apé City to deliver exceptional value and a superior experience to our customers.” It really feels good to hear this sort of statements, but the outcome is depended on our true Indian Junta who stays in remote interiors and thrives on such type of transport as their main source of ‘income’ as well as ‘commute’.
