Porsche Macan Diesel S Spied In India

India nowadays is not a laidback market to the prying eyes of global automakers, and here’s what it seems the nation is gaining more attraction in terms of automobiles than before. As spotted the first test mule of Porsche Macan in the country which is the rival to Audi Q5 and such. This is the smallest Porsche SUV till date that did its global unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show last year.

However, it seem the German automaker wants to cash upon the upcoming markets and the ones which are livable with the small packets, we mean more of retails. The India ranks one such of them, and the test mule spotted was on the roads of Navi Mumbai – near to the financial capital of India, Mumbai. It is the Macan Diesel S trim, as noted from the circular quad exhaust tips.  The plans laid by Porsche for the nation clogged it to be imported as a CBU (completely built units) only from the Leipzig plant in Germany.

In terms of power, the top-of-line Macan Turbo is delved with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine pulling out the meaty 400 PS of power and 550 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 kmph sprint in less 5 seconds with a top whack standing firm at 266 kmph for a vehicle of this segment.

On the other side of coin that India seemed to love it the most – the diesel variant – to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that develops 258 PS and 580 Nm of torque. The oil burner is quite laid back than the petrol ones in achieving the 0 to 100 kmph at 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 230 kmph.

Both the fuel trims will be equipped with a 7-speed Porsche PDK dual clutch automatic transmission.

We believe the fuel-efficiency will be altogether a decent package, hope so that would sell all of them in abundant to Indians within no time.

Pricing, if Macan will be imported as a whole unit from Germany then it could range in between the Rs 70-80 lakh that could then bring in the competition against a segment higher than what is said above – to the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Range Rover and such. Confirmed launch date for India is not cited officially yet, but it could be somewhere in the coming weeks, which apparently can also lead to months if the market doesn’t tend to settle subtlety for the vehicle.
