Mahindra and Mahindra Upgraded To ‘AAA’ By India Ratings

M&M (Mahindra & Mahindra) sees its Credit Rating updated to AAA, the highest level by India Ratings & Research, international ratings agency, Fitch’s domestic arm. The firm was assigned a Long Term Issuer rating of Ind AAA with a stable outlook to M&M. This is a result of Mahindra’s resilience to economic cycles in the past 18 years. The rating also takes into account the automaker’s strong market position, conservative financial policies, effective product development strategies and meaningful diversification activities.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman at Mahindra Group said: “This enhancement in our credit rating is a reflection of the company’s financial prudence over the years.” “It also recognizes our capability to manage an increasingly volatile and complex business environment.”

Mahindra Auto Sector Grows by 14% in September 2013

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), India’s leading SUV manufacturer sold 43,289 units during the month of September 2013.

The Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes UVs and Verito) stood at 18,916 units in the last month as against the 23,808 units sold during the same period of 2012.

Meanwhile, Mahindra domestic sales posted 40,574 units during September 2013, as against 45,263 units during September 2012. Both the 3-wheeler and 4-wheeler segments referred marginal growths, at 6,403 and 14,709 units respectively in September 2013, as compared to September 2012.

It is been noted that, auto sector of the M&M has recorded a growth of 14% in September 2013 over the numbers that were resulted during ‘August 2013’ at 37,897 units.

Speaking on the monthly performance, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “While there has been a growth over August 2013, it is not to the extent that makes us comfortable especially as we approach the festive season. Factors such as increase in input and raw material costs and the depreciating rupee have not helped. To compensate to some extent we have taken a price increase effective today. The auto industry is definitely in need of a trigger in terms of a stimulus to boost consumer sentiments leading to a turnaround in the sector as well as a revival of the economy in general.”

Mahindra & Mahindra sales declines by 21% during July this year

Mahindra & Mahindra, the country’s top sport utility vehicle maker, has registered a declining sales figure by 21 per cent during the last month (July 2013).

During July is year, the homegrown automobile giant made delivery of around 37,096 vehicle units as compared to 47,059 vehicle units during the corresponding period of 2012.

The company’s Passenger Vehicles section (that consists of Utility Vehicles and Verito) posted sales of around 15,530 vehicle units during July this year as compared to 22,011 vehicle units sold during the same period of last year (July 2012).

Mahindra domestic sale facts remained at 34,490 vehicle units in the last month, as compared to 42,799 vehicle units in the same period of 2012.

The company’s overall sale facts of passenger cars, comprising Xylo, Verito, Scorpio, Bolero and XUV500, remained at 15,530 vehicle units as compared to 22,011 vehicle units during July last year, down 29.44%.

Mahindra’s fourth quarter profit rises by 42 percent

Mahindra and Mahindra announced the financial result for the 4th quarter which ended on 31st March 2013. The gross revenue and the other income of the Mahindra and Mahindra ltd. And MVML (entity) were Rs. 11342.3 crore in comparison to the Rs. 10333.6 crore last year- a growth of 9.8 percent. The profit on the exceptional item and tax for the current year was at Rs. 1230.4 crore against Rs. 868.0 crore last year with a growth of 41.8 percent. The operating margin for the combined entity has increased from 12.0 percent last year to current 14.4 percent. The strict focus on the cost control and strong performance by auto sector has rendered to this incredible growth.

During the current quarter Mahindra gathered an exceptional profit of Rs. 90.6 crore arise by the sale of 34 lakhs shares of the subsidiary Mahindra Holdings and Resorts India Ltd. in the Q4 last year. All the product in the UV segment continues to do good and company continues its leadership position with market share of 47.8 percent. In the car segment Mahindra sold 3747 Veritos. It also exported 776 vehicles in current quarter.

The domestic tractor industry showed a decline of 1.7 percent in the current quarter, the company sold 46107 tractors under Mahindra Swaraj brand against the 48517 tractors last year. The company’s market share during the quarter was 37.2 percent. The company also exported 3767 tractors in the last quarter. The Powerol business also saw a growth of 20.8 percent at Rs. 283.6 crore in quarter 4 in compare to the Rs. 234.9 crore last year.

Mahindra registers about 18 percent growth in the passenger vehicle segment in December 2013

Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s largest SUV maker has recorded a growth rate of about 6 percent in its auto sales figures, which now stands at 45297 units during the month of December as compared to the 42761 units during the same period last year.

Mahindra domestic sales report stood at about 42307 units during the month of December 2012 as compared to the 39891 units during December last year, an overall increase of about 6 percent. The passenger vehicle segment that includes vehicles like Verito and other UVs  recorded a growth of about 18 percent with the total sale of about 22761 units in December 2012 as compared to the 19341 units that it sold during 2011.

The four wheeler segment that includes all the passenger vehicle and load category vehicles recorded sale of about 13706 vehicles while the 3 wheeler segment registered about 5209 units. Export for the last month stood as about 2990 vehicles that is a growth of about 4 percent over the last year.

Chief Executive, Automotive division, Mr. Pravin Shah said that the high fuel price, high interest rates and economic slowdown has restricted the consumers during 2012. He further said that this is also observed in the performance of the auto industry during the December, which has always been a lean month. He hoped to receive some good news about the corrective measures that could help the industry to get the buoyancy and maintain the growth. However he also said that company is quite happy to maintain the growth even during these challenging conditions.

Mahindra blocked up in setting Testing facility; Land allotment issue

M&M is facing land allotment problem from the Tamil Nadu government and investment has been piled up so much that it has become a cause for concern for the company. Mahindra was considering investing about Rs. 18,000 crore in setting up a test facility at Cheyyar near Chennai, but the slow government process has delayed the whole operation.

Mahindra is apparently not happy with the delay. M&M has also planned several other investments including a 4,000 crore production unit for which it is considering several places in Tamil Nadu. According to the words of Pawan Goenka, President of Automotive and Farm equipment, company should have possessed the land by now but the snail paced government process is creating problems. He also added that the government had not denied the allotment and company is expecting for some fast pace decision.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s overall sale numbers during the last month (September 2012) surged 10% as against the same period of 2011 to 48,342 vehicle units.

Utility vehicle manufacturer’s September sales remained highest ever monthly sales, the company stated.

Whilst Indian sales zoomed 10% as against the year ago period to 45,263 units, exports remained up by 3% to 3,079 units in the month of September 2012.

Mahindra & Mahindra passenger vehicle sales, comprising utility vehicles and Verito sedan, remained up by 22% to 23,808 vehicle units and 4 wheeler commercial vehicle sales climbed by 7% to hit a mark of 14,417 units.

But, three-wheeler CV sales remained down by 17% to 6,048 vehicles during the last month.

MNAL, M&M’s partnership with US-based Navistar to market medium and heavy trucks, sold 990 vehicles in September 2012, up 2% as against the same period of 2011.

For the period of April-September 2012, the company’s overall sales surged 20% to 2,67,266 units.

Diminution in cash reserve ratio (CRR) by the central banking institution of India and decrease in lending rates by a few banking institutions has pushed up outlooks.

The company’s Indian tractor sales dropped 20% to 18,908 vehicles during the last month and it exported 1,177 tractors as against 1,165 units it sold a year back.
