Tata Bolt to be unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo 2014

The Tata Bolt will be making its debut at the Indian Auto Expo 2014 on 3rd February in New Delhi. It is also known by a code name, the “Falcon 4”, and is expected to be displayed along with its sub-four meter saloon. Its sibling saloon is called “Falcon 5”, since the market name of the car has not yet been revealed. Though Tata Bolt is a redesigned version of Vista, the changes allow it to be viewed as a completely new car. Bolt gets new mechanicals and body parts, while the glass area is the same as that of Vista. It is based on Tata X1’s platform.

One of the striking features of Bolt is the character lines on the flanks along with the redesigned nose of the car. However, the bigger change is the departure of the vertically stacked, tall taillights, as it was a signature for the Indica. The taillights now have a more conventional design. The interiors of the car have been changed by Tata Motors, with better seats and a new dashboard, which make the cabin look much better than before.

The handling of the car has also improved because of the new suspension design. Courtesy ZF, the car will feature Electric Power Steering (EPS), who is also the original suppliers of EPS for Tata Nano Twist as well. Since EPS is considered to be lighter than the hydraulically assisted steering, Tata has used smaller diameter steering wheel for Bolt.

Tata Bolt is said to be powered by a 1.3 Multijet, Fiat-sourced engine or the 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol Revotron. The price of the car will only be announced once it is up for sale.
