Volvo India to launch V40 Crossover in March 2013

Volvo India has confirmed that the V40 Cross Country Crossover – the crossover version of the V40 hatchback – will be launched in March 2013.

Designed to compete with the likes of the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, the 2013 Volvo V40 Cross Country was recently showcased at the ongoing 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The company will offer both petrol and diesel variants of the Volvo V40 Cross Country Crossover in the Indian market. In the international market, the Volvo V40 Crossover comes with six engines, all of which are turbocharged. Three are turbo petrol engines, viz. the T3, T4 and T5. The 2 liter, 4-cylinder T3 engine produces a maximum of 150 bhp and peak torque of 240 Nm. The T4 engine produces a maximum power of 180 bhp.

The top of the line, 5-cylinder T5 turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power of 254 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The T3 and T4 petrol variants come mated to 6-speed manual transmissions, while the T5 engine come equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The three turbo diesel variants are the D2, D3 and D4 units, which deliver a maximum power and torque of 115 Bhp-270 Nm, 150 Bhp-350 Nm, and 177 Bhp-400 Nm respectively.

Volvo India will import the new V40 Cross Country Crossover into India via the completely built unit guise. The new crossover will be the company’s entry level model in India, with a sub Rs.30 lakh price tag.
