According to recent reports, BMW will take wraps off its crossover X1 at the 2012 New York Auto Show coming up in a couple of weeks. Based on the 3-Series, the BMW X1 made its Indian debut at 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. What is regarded as the cheapest and most successful BMW in India has undergone a mid-life facelift, with details from the previous spy images revealing the modified bumpers and restyled lighting units.
The BMW facelifted X1 will borrow the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine from its predecessor. It develops over 242 bhp peak power, 350 Nm peak torque and xDrive28i configuration. We also speculate the BMW X1 facelift to feature six-cylinder powerplant with M Performance package and M35i xDrive. There is no significant changes made on the exterior with minor tweak to the bumper and headlights.
What looks like a more European slated X1 will hit the US markets by September this year before coming to India by end of 2012. It will go up directly against the upcoming Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class based crossover. We will bring you more from the German crossover as the 2012 New York Auto Show approaches.
