Toyota announced the fuel economy and pricing of the all-new Toyota Yaris Hybrid on the day of its debut at Geneva. It is a the first B-segment vehicle with a full hybrid drive, along with being the cheapest hybrid to go on road in Germany.
The 2013 Toyota Yaris Hybrid drive features an electric motor supplemented by a 1.5-litre VVTi petrol engine, delivering 98 hp. Mated to this hybrid drive is a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Fuel consumption figure is 28.6 kmpl and the CO2 emission is 79g/km, giving it a stand in the line-up of green cars.
Features like day-time running LED lights, dual-zone climate control, a height-adjustable driver seat, power mirrors, central locking, electric front windows and a height and reach-adjustable steering wheel are standard for all variants of the Toyota Yaris. Safety features like electronic stability control, seven air-bags including knee air-bag is also standard in all models. With all these features, the base model Yaris comes in at € 16,950.
The mid-segment, Life can be bought for € 17,900 featuring Toyota Touch multi-media audio system with 6.1-inch touch screen display, Eco-Drive monitor, rear-view camera, Bluetooth kit, Steering wheel Controls. The touch screen multimedia also supports Auxiliary input, USB plug-in and iPod accessories. It also sports leather finished steering wheel and shift knob, a two-way adjustable luggage compartment floor and rear LED lights.
The top-end model, Club sports 16-inch alloy wheel, engine start/stop function, fog lights, roof spoiler, heated mirrors, electric rear windows, glove compartment with cooling function and a front passenger seat height adjustment. This variant is priced at € 19,200.
Toyota was facing production crisis after the tsunami and earthquake in Japan last year. Its plants are running on 60 per cent capacity currently, and is expected to be running on full fledged capacity with the models coming up this year.
Also coming this year is the Prius Plus, a seven-seat hybrid and a Prius plug-in hybrid and the roadster GT 86. The 2012 Toyota Yaris Hybrid will hit the German market in July.
