Audi has always been revered to as the most preferred choice of cars for people and now this time it has unleashed the newest and mean Audi R8 Spyder’s upgraded version in the market. Last year Audi launched supercar R8 in the Indian market termed as one of the most lucrative automobile markets in the world and there was response to the launch as many who had the money went for the car. Both the Audi R8 and Audi R6 Spyder will be re-launched into the market as upgraded versions which promise to be meaner and faster than their predecessors. These versions of the supercars will be launched prospectively in the year 2014 and 2015.
There have been many steps and months of discussion and research upon which the cars have been upgraded on order to give enhanced optimal performance and along with that, this time Audi has focused on fuel efficiency as well. Though one cannot expect good fuel efficiency from a supercar, Audi aims to launch these supercars as one of the most efficient hotrods in the market. Extensive research has been taking place behind the closed doors of the German automobile heavyweight and Audi promises to upgrade these two supercars to such a level where they can be tagged as one of the most efficient cars in the market without any other car hanging on their shoulders.
Audi plans to reduce the weight of the cars by at least 60 kg upon which the cars will be somewhere around 1500 kg promising the best performance ever by an Audi supercar. Presently Audi R8 comes with a 4.2 L V8 engine and is capable of delivering 450 bhp horsepower which can make it accelerate like a bat straight out of hell. On the other hand Audi R8 Spyder roadster is powered by a 5.2 L V10 engine which can shell out an incredible power of 550 bhp. Both these mean machines will be powered by seven speed clutch dual gearboxes.
No supercar has ever shelled out a mileage more than 5 kmpl but Audi plans to break this barrier as the new range of upgraded models of R8 and R8 Spyder will be capable of giving out a mileage of 10.9 kmpl which is something that will raise lots of eyebrows. Thus if someone calculates the increase in percentage of fuel efficiency then it will come out to be a staggering 120% which is presently impossible for any supercar. Carbon fiber has been used by Audi to increase the fuel efficiency of these supercars and thus Audi aims to achieve a huge boost in its reputation amongst the automobile heavyweight conglomerates. One of the most impressive changes made into these two cars is the mechanism of start/stop as well as the advanced braking system which increases the handling of the car to a great extent along with the innovative Sailing technology according to which the engine runs into idle mode while the car is moving downhill thus saving a lot of fuel.
