With the developing nations being targeted as potential markets for the SUV, Bentley took the challenge to create a product that exceeded all expectations. Bentley’s director of design, Dirk van Braeckel, explains that the “EXP 9 F had to represent the absolute pinnacle of the sport utility sector, setting a new benchmark for this type of vehicle.”

The Bentley EXP 9 F follows the characteristic Bentley features like its matrix grille, round lamps and signature character lines. Its design has not been compromised with engineering, with the daytime running light apertures serving as intakes for the massive W12 engine’s turbocharger coolers and each sports a turbine fan design. Complementing the turbine fan design are the 23-inch alloy wheels on side, and on the rear, it features fighter-jet inspired split tail lamp design.

On the inside, like all Bentleys, this too features a unique blend of luxury, technology and practicality. It features the more obvious Bentley elements like wood, leather and polished metal. However, the cutting-edge touch screen interface supporting multiple entertainment system gives it a more contemporary functionality. Floor mats are dual-functional for outdoors and city purpose, with silk wool on one side and saddle leather crafted on the other.

The rear seats can be folded and stowed for increased cargo volume. When in place, the seats allow users to stay connected via mounted tablet computers, and the center armrest hides a cooled compartment for champagne and glasses. Bentley offers a choice of Comfort, Sport and Off-Road driving modes for drivers to choose from. Also assisting the driver is the new 3D Sat-Nav system.

“We are very excited by the potential of a high performance, ultra-luxury Bentley SUV. We know that many Bentley customers already own SUVs, admiring their style, luxury, performance and versatility. With Bentley EXP 9 F, Bentley is making a clear statement of intent that we have both the expertise and desire to meet and exceed their expectations.” Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors.

Powering the SUV concept is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine, producing 600 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Mated to the motor is an eight-speed automatic transmission. There is also possibility of the production variant to house the new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 or a hybrid power plant.
