DC Design is planning to launch its indigenously developed supercar

DC Design, which is a well known design house in the Indian auto market, is reportedly fully ready to showcase its indigenously developed supercar at the upcoming 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. As per a report that has appeared in the Business Standard, this car is being billed as the first supercar from India. It is expected that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, the Indian mega superstar, is expected to unveil this vehicle at the auto show. DC Design has designed and completely built this vehicle right from its base. The car is going to be manufactured in low volume and is going to be assembled at the facility of the firm in Pune. It is expected that if the car maker is able to maintain the schedule it has set, then the car is going to be delivered starting from the end of 2013 after the car has secured all the necessary approvals.

DC Design is planning to launch its indigenously developed supercarThe Business Standard has quoted DC Design promoter, Mr. Dilip Chhabria has been quoted as stating that the car would create a transformation of this design house into a house of production. It is going to offer all the luxuries, looks, quality, dimensions and finish that could be compared to powerhouse supercar makers like Ferrari and Lamborghini. The only feature in which the car will not be able to match these reputed global car makers is on the power aspect.

Just like the supercars that are operational in the European market, the DC Design produced car is going to place its engine at the middle. The engine of this car is going to be positioned just behind the driving seat between two axles. Additional details have not yet been provided about this car. However, speculations in the market are indicating that this petrol car is going to get its power from a V6 engine that the company is sourcing from Honda. This engine is, however, going to be turbocharged and will have the capacity of generating a maximum power greater than 400Bhp. As far as kerb weight of this supercar goes, it has been kept at 1,560kg, which is in similar lines with European supercars. If we take a look at the dimensions of this vehicle, it is found that the car matches the Aventador and the Lamborghini Murcielago. The Business Standard reports that DC Design is planning to manufacture 300 units of this supercar in its first year of production, following which it is going to scale up its operations to produce 3,000 units annually. Mr. Chhabria has said that the car is going to be attractively priced and the company is looking at keeping the pricing below Rs.30 Lakh on the road. The firm had initially planned to name the car “Buddh” based on the Formula I circuit of India. However, the company has not received encouraging response as far as this name is concerned. Hence, the company is now thinking on a new name for the car.
